Fast and fair

We used Trupanion to insure our Frenchie/Boston mix puppy. She is a very active and curious dog who also has a sensitive digestive system so we thought we better insure her to be on the safe side. The policy costs about 40$ a month but it pays 90% of claims (not including exam fees). We had to make several claims just a few months after enrolling her. She had a frightening reaction to a new topical flea and tick treatment and we spent Memorial weekend in the animal hospital. We mailed in the paperwork and Trupanion immediately emailed notification of receiving it. They also emailed the status of each claim a few days after that. We got our checks in the mail within 3 weeks. Trupanion is the first pet insurance we have ever used so we don't have a good means of objective comparison but for now, the insurance has already paid for itself! It is a relief to know that we can our dog to the vet without worrying about money.

Yikes. Rate hikes.

Wow these guys suck. 66% rate hike after the first year. So much for the few percent they told me.

WOULD NOT BE WITHOUT IT

I have carried pet insiurance on my dogs for maybe 40 years or whenever VPI started. There was not much choice back then. In the last 10 years I havc switched to Pets Best. I believe it was recently bought by Aetna. I have 5 and 12 year old Greyhounds and another Greyhound who passsed away last year from chronic renal failure. There is nothing gimmicky aobut Pets Best.I had $10,000 in vet bills last year of which I paid maybe 25%. I have the policy that pays $7000 lieftime for an illneold has aobut run out of kidney ear ss. My 12 year old has aobut run out of benefits in that area. I tried to raise my younger Greyhound to a higher plan last year but was told the company declined to increase his isurance. If yu can tolerate the higher deductible per illness and get the $14000 per illness I think it is worth it if you spend money on your animals or would go into debt. at Pets Best payI also like ths the same for specialists becasue that is who both my dogs see now, an internist.

Petshealth Insurance Review

I decide to get Petshealth Insurance after my Golden reached age 7. I did some research and found that the premiums through Petshealth insurance seemed very reasonable. Luckily my Golden has not had any major health issues yes and he is 11 years old now. When he seems overly sluggish or not eating right or vomitting, it is good to know that I can run some bloodwork or other tests to see if there is some wrong with my Golden. It is good to know that I have the insurance backing me in case of a major health issue with my Golden.

Prepare for a big rate change with Trupanion

We have had trupanion for about 1 year now. Until now we have been happy. I have previously given this company great reviews. I pay $38/month $0 deductable with hip displaysia coverage. I signed up when my dog was approx 3 months old. The companies claim at the time was your insurance premium wouldn't increase with age or claims only with increases in veterinary services. Sounds reasonable and the company claims to pride itself in simple language. Today I recieve in my inbox that their rates are going up. Not just going up, but going up by 3X. My same coverage will now cost $93.85. Their reasoning increases in medical expenses. What a crock of poo. I see the bills they haven't increased 3X in my area. Your left with changing your deductable to $1000 to get anywhere near your previous rate. Lets not forget the $1k deductable is per illness or injury not per calender year. If you haven't seen the rate increase yet expect it to come within the next year. they seem to be phasing this rate change in. I'll be cancelling my policy when the rate change occurs.

Peace of Mind is Priceless

While I have only had to file one claim with ASPCA Health Insurance, it gives me peace of mind knowing that I have a safety net if something serious were to happen to either one of my dogs. The claim-filing process is very easy and I received my check quite promptly.

They are fantastic

We took out an insurance policy with Healthy Paws in October of 2010 as our dog had already had one knee operated on and there is a 50/50 chance he will blow the other knee. In March, we filed our first claim due on a small injury he had. In less than one week, we were reimbursed for xrays and medications. We were amazed how quickly they responded. Then, one week later, our dog has to be taken to the ER due to what was diagnosed as Addison's Disease. Healthy Paws was great. I filed the insurance claim form and faxed it to them. That same day they sent me an email letting me know they had the form and were sorry to hear of his illness. Within one week of our visit to the ER, we were reimbursed for 90% of our expenses, which was not cheap. With this disease, bloodwork and meds will be needed for the rest of his life. These costs range over $200 every 28 days. Each time we go to the Vet's office for his treatments, they file the claim form for us. It is just that easy. By that evening, I usually have an email telling me they are working the claim and within 24 hours I receive an email with the easy to read Explanation of Benefits form showing what was submitted and what will be reimbursed. Then within days, I receive the check in the mail. Healthy Paws has taken the stress out of dealing with our dog's disease. We love our dog and know that we would pay whatever to help him. It is great though to know that Healthy Paws is by our side while we go through this.
