My dog needed a MRI to diagnose a back problem that was very painful. I was grateful that Nationwide was able to cover most of the cost of the exam. With rest and limited activity he should pull through.

Unbelievable service and speed of payment
As a retired insurance agent I was very skeptical about pet insurance. Our veterinarian recommended Trupanion coverage for our new kitten as we spent thousands of dollars caring for our last cat in the golden years of his life. We elected to purchase the policy as the cost was reasonable. I certainly figured this was coverage we would pay into for years and years and not experience any significant expense until our little princess was much older much like our last cat. Well the unforeseeable happened - at a little beyond her first birthday a lump appeared underneath our baby's chin. Anesthesia, lumpectomy, histopath diagnosis, radiographs, and pain management medication was indicated. The professional services were reasonable in cost but not inexpensive. Our doctor filed the claim with Trupanion when we picked Bailey up from surgery. Being a skeptic I did not expect much. Trupanion approved the expense, paid the doctor direct, and had an explanation of benefits statement emailed to me in EIGHT HOURS! I have dealt with insurance companies for decades, and I have yet to see a medical claim handled like this. I am no longer a skeptic. The company provided service was outstanding, and I can recommend them highly. If you are thinking of purchasing health insurance for your pet - look no further than Trupanion.

First claim only a few months in
I've only had this insurance a few months but had to file my first claim. I called a few times with a lot of questions and everyone that I talked to was really helpful and friendly. I honestly expected to get the grumpy tech support since I was trying to submit a claim. With most companies you only talk to pleasant people when you're buying something. I was really surprised how great everyone was. It took about 2 weeks for the claim to be reviewed and they did have trouble getting info they needed from my vet but they sent me an email explaining that. I got their fax number, called my vet, and they sent them what they needed. It was fast after that. They were more than fair. I have a long hair dachshund and my major reason for having insurance was just in case he ever developed IVDD. You never really know how good your insurance is until you use it and this experience has made me much more confident that I made the right choice.

Trupanion SCAM ins Co.
Trupanion is a scam insurance company. when I signed up they told me that my policy would remain the same price every month and not increase every year. today they send me an email saying they would increase it because of my zip code and other claims they had by other people. i never even had one claim. What a joke they are. Make sure you do not waste your time with them.
