Rates have gone up after just a year in…
Rates have gone up after just a year in the program from $59.76 to $76.98 for some mysterious' market rate in my zip code 'rationale. They denied a claim for a tooth extraction because they see having tartar as a pre-existing condition. They will scour your records looking for any reason to deny your claim. We bought insurance for peace of mind and have none. We are scared that they will find any reason to deny her for anything in the future based on what they decide is evidence of a pre-existing condition. You maybe better off saving money for your pet in case of emergency.

Great Insurance with Affordable Premium
Pets Best is a great insurance and always no hassle whenever I submit a claim. The premium rate is very affordable and gives me a confident that my baby Momo will always be covered when she gets sick. I am so glad I chose Pets Best for my Baby Momo. Long processes but ended well
Trupanion was always great and paid all our claims on time with the exception of the time they put someone else’s claim on our account(it was denied). Fast forward to my dogs totals hip replacement. All her pre-op appointments, xrays, RXs were paid promptly. Once the surgeon submitted the bill for surgery it became a month long venture. They kept requesting more info-some of it from BEFORE we adopted her. Who is going to have access to medical records for a dog prior to adoption especially when you adopt them at 10 weeks old? They finally said they had all the info they needed and now just had to review it. Meanwhile the surgeon is contacting me almost daily about the bill so I had to contact trupanion daily about their payment. I started reading a bunch of reviews and was getting worried that they were trying to find something in her medical history to use to deny her surgery for hip dysplasia as a pre existing condition. But finally after about 5 weeks we received notice that they did pay 90% of her surgery. So all in all it turned out well for us but it was a process for sure. I felt like I had to stay on top of them every day meanwhile they were most likely behind the scenes telling somebody if y’all don’t pay this lady’s claim! She’s driving us crazy. The CSRs were very friendly and helpful each time though.

You will pay ridiculous increases year over year even though you never submit a claim
This company has a ridiculous standard increase year-over-year for everyone, even if you never submit a claim, just to cover everyone else’s high claim costs. Consideration should be given to those who never submit a claim, and increases should only be given to those who use the insurance more, versus a standard increase across the board to everyone. This unfair increase to all for those who use continuously submit claims is making the insurance unaffordable for those who never even submit a claim. I understand things happen that are unavoidable, but just as health insurance for humans, those who pay high costs for organic food and treats and preventative care to prevent certain conditions of their pets to maintain a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t be penalized. I have had the insurance for over 5 years now and in all those years, I only had minor claim of less than 20.00, and forced to pay a total of almost 50.00 per month in increases since getting the insurance. I have had to reduce my coverage amounts just to be able to afford the monthly insurance. The response from the company regarding asinine increases to my monthly insurance cost is because I need to pay for the increase of everyone else’s claims. Totally unjust and unfair. I thought this was a great company but what is the point of having insurance if you can’t even afford to keep it to use in the event you need it because you’re paying for everyone else’s claims. Serious changes need to be made to ensure the costs are fair.

Once again we have been very impressed…
Once again we have been very impressed by Trupanion. An error had been made in the submission of our claim resulting in it being ineligible. A quick phone call to Trupanion an appeal processed and we were reimbursed the next day. We love the peace of mind Trupanion gives us in providing medical care for our dog, so much so that we immediately enrolled our kitten when she joined the family.
