After several asks for more information, they ended up considering considering the wrong invoice for the claim. Now I get to carve time out of my schedule to sort this out. Such a pain.

Trupanion has some sneaky rules you should be aware of
Trupanion bills itself as the premier pet insurance. But not so fast! In the 3 years I've been with them (paying over $85/month), I've submitted only two invoices for my healthy dog. The first invoice took them 3 months to process--and then only to apply to my deductible. (Trupanion charges a $1,000 deductible PER CONDITION, then pays 90% after that). The second invoice (my dog injured her hip) was handled much quicker. But, again, only to amass a small amount against my dog's condition--for THAT condition only. Okay, I missed that when I signed up. My bad. But a week after that I informed the company that my mailing address was changing (20 minutes north to a different zipcode, but continuing to use my current vet. That, they said, constitutes crossing into a zipcode that requires me to pay an ADDITIONAL $28 or so dollars more per month. When I asked why, they said that their policy requires them to do so because animal costs are higher there. First of all, that's bulls@@t--everything is cheaper there. But, as I said, I'm using the same vet as I've always used. "That's our policy," they said, "and we can't make any exceptions." Which means if you ever move from your current location, don't be surprised if Trupanion raises your rate. I quit Trupanion Pet Insurance. Good luck choosing insurance for your dog or cat, but beware.

Goodbye Nationwide....hello SPOT
Wonderful pricing and easy site to navigate thru. Got a much better deal for MILO than with Nationwide who pays NOTHING....and jerks you around for MONTHS for a $50 dollar claim. SPOT seems like the real deal....and although we just signed up...we feel confident they will deliver when a claim is submitted. The nicest thing was 2-3 days after we registered MILO....I got a call from someone at SPOT thanking me for my business.....and wanted to know about MILO....the 'mayor' of Boca Raton.....ALL is good.....

Heartworm scare but covered
We adopted our dog and the Vet suggested insurance. I called you and it was so easy to enroll. I hoped not to need your help but a few years after enrolling we discovered our guy had heartworm. At the same time our household was under stress. We all thought someone else had sent the invoices to Trupanion Of course no one did. In spite of this Kelly told me to submit them.
