Trupanion denies almost EVERY claim we have with our pet as "pre-existing conditions". The staff is friendly and helpful, however, they cant quite determine why things aren't covered. They just chalk everything up to "pre-existing conditions"
Trupanion claim experience was very easy. At a time when we were overwhelmed with our pets condition we were allowed to focus on our pets actual needs. We were also very impressed with the quick processing of claims, the communication/support and well wishes from trupanion. We even received a phone call wishing our pet the best and hoping for a speedy recovery.

Trupanion canceled my plan without hesitation and without me needing to request when my dog passed away. They, as they said they would, also reimbursed 90% of the final medical bills prior to euthanasia. I was happy with the speed at which reimbursement was granted for both times I had to claim.

Tori, is the only reason I'm still with your company today. For the money I've given Trupanion I could have put in a savings account and would better off.
This was amazing! My dog was attacked, and we had to make an emergency trip to the vet. My vet submitted the claim on my behalf and trupanion was right back to me on their review, the detail and my payment. The check was sent to me very quickly.
It was simple, easy and clear to understand.
This may just be because it was my first claim experience but it was frustrating how long it took to get records from my previous primary veterinarians. Being a veterinarian myself, it seemed ridiculous needing to check with them when I brought my dog in for a single episode of gastroenteritis. After all of the frustration of finally getting things in order, the actual amount covered was not as much as expected which was disappointing. So overall, I understand the importance of insurance for major incidences but something like this just seemed like more of a headache and inconvenience and wouldn't recommend.
