As our dog was referred to a specialist because of obvious vision problems.
As our dog was referred to a specialist, because of obvious vision problems. The veterinary ophthalmologist diagnosed Max as having a problem with focus speed, making it appear that he was losing his sight. We thought it might be a problem. We also thought our vet insurance would cover such a thing. We're also trapped by time in coverage from Trupanion -- despite the huge and steady increases in premium. At close to $1500 a year, you must be doing very well, indeed. Also not happy that the Canadian firm we first dealt with is now a foreign entity.

Awesome insurance
ASPCA pet insurance is really wonderful. I am posting this because I previously posted a terrible review. The insurance took 3 months to reimburse me due to 'insufficient information from vet'. At the time I was broke and it seemed like the reimbursement would not come around. However, it eventually did and I am so grateful! My cat recovered from diabetic ketoacidosis and is now under control. It is very likely that now that he has a pre-existing condition, he will not qualify for further reimbursement. However, I have kept paying $30 in order to 'pass on' some cash to someone else. I highly recommend aspca - they raise a ton of money for all kinds of animals. I'm not sure if the insurance is related to aspca but I also recommend looking into saving one of the animals from the shelters. They are GREAT pets and having a pet makes you happier.

caring
Love the fact they care customers.
My boy passed few months after the renewal.
They offered partial refund of renewal fee, also paid all cancer treatment.
I'll choose PetsBest for all my pets.

Multiple Pets Insured
All of my pets (4 cats, 1 dog) have been insured with Pets Best since ownership began. The company has always been responsive and it's a pleasure to get a real person in real time when calling. No robots or multiple recorded options. The company responds quickly and deposits any reimbursements into my checking account in a timely fashion.
My only areas of dissatisfaction, which I'm sure could be said of any other company:
1 - Dental procedures for conditions such as gingivitis are not covered. Since gum and tooth diseases can lead to multiple health issues, i.e., heart, kidney, etc., this seems to be a case of false economy. It is far less expensive to cover mouth issues than to cover organ diseases.
2-As pets get older, the premiums increase exponentially, sometimes leading pet owners to have to choose between risking the odds of maintaining the health of a senior pet vs. paying very sizable premiums.
I would recommend that everyone begin insuring pets as soon as they are rescued or adopted, since anything that occurs before insurance kicks in would be considered pre-existing. Once a pet is insured and an illness occurs, Pets Best will not exclude that condition.

Healthy Paws is the GREATEST!
I cannot thank Healthy Paws enough for being there for our dog Kiki and my family when we need them. Kiki was diagnosed with Cushing syndrome and had a mass in her adrenal gland. Kiki underwent surgery to take out the mass which turned out to be cancerous. unfortunately, Kiki developed pancreatitis and kidney failure a couple of weeks later and was hospitalized several times. She lost appetite and lost a lot of weight and had to have a feeding tube inserted in her neck in order to help her get better. While we worried about Kiki's health, we are thankful that we have a pet insurance to take care of the financial side. Whenever I see or talk to people and coworkers who have pets, I advocate that they get pet insurance for the sake of their pet and themselves. I encouraged my sister, my son and other friends to get Healthy Paws pet insurance and they thanked me because Healthy Paws was there for them as well in time of their need.
As for me, Kiki's medical expenses are over $10,000.00 now. Healthy paws processed our claims always immediately.
their Customer Care even reached out to check on Kiki's condition. Is that GREAT or what? Thank you, Health Paws for being there for us. You are the GREATEST!

So thankful
I am so greatful for Pets plus us insurance. Of course I was going to care for my pets no matter what but could not have imagined that a dog so young could have so many things go wrong at such an early age from a serious allergic reaction to needing cruciate ligament surgery with a few bumps along the way in her medical treatment. Thank goodness for insurance!
