This was a quick and easy process

This was a quick and easy process - easy to submit a claim via the website. I was surprised at how quickly this claim was reviewed and how fast I was reimbursed.

BEWARE French Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxer ETC. DO NOT USE TRUPANION. Use tactics to pay you less, read below. DO NOT USE TRUPANION

Beware, do not waste your money with Trupaion. First- I have a 2 year old French Bulldog who is Brachycephalic. THEY DO NOT COVER Brachycephalic problems!! Meaning if you have a pug, boxer, french/english bulldog, boston terrier, pekingese, king charles cavalier, your pets breathing surgery (if they need) or any related problems are NOT COVERED. In addition, they find ways to pay you less. Read Example below: I had an emergency visit where my dog was bit by another, and had a lacerated tongue and had to get 6 teeth removed. I had two hospital visits totaling $1000. My deductible is $750 to start receiving coverage. The first visit included an $150 emergency evaluation fee + services in total of a $244 visit. (The $150 visit fee is not eligible for refund, but does count toward my deductible). The second visit was the remaining $767. Instead of counting the $244 visit toward the deductible (remember, including an $150 emergency evaluation fee that counts toward deductible, but not eligible to be refunded in a payout), they took the deductible from the second visit ($767), and counted the $244 visit (WHICH WAS THE FIRST VISIT) toward the payout, conveniently so that I would only receive a payout not including the $150 evaluation. I received $83 + $17. Finding a creative way to structure the pay out so they could give LESS MONEY is the key here. if they counted the first visit ($244) toward the deductible, I would have met the deductible in the second visit, and received a payout of $234. $83+ $17 VS $234... Shady practices. avoid at all costs. The customer service people on the phone sound like they never graduated highschool and get confused when you bring up an issue, and claim to not know anything about the process.

Slow to process claims

I was sold on the idea that ALL claims would be processed within 14 business days however its ALWAYS been greater than 21 business days to get anything completed. Communication is weak and has frustrated me immensely anytime I've talked to someone. In the beginning it was "oh we are waiting on a document from you..." OK rookie mistake BUT it would have been nice if they advised me that I needed to submit more info instead of me calling them 3 weeks after the claim was sent it. Ive always made sure to send in all documents upfront now and the answer is "we are backlogged now and processing claims a week before your submission date (same answer with all my inquiries about claims). Only been a year that I've used petsecure and wish Management would look into processing timelines and either be honest with customers and tell them processing times are greater than 21 business days or change it on the contract to reflect 21 business days. OR better yet figure out internally why these published dates cant be met.

This has been invaluable

This has been invaluable. The insurance company has been excellent in receiving, reviewing and paying my claims. I had no idea I would even need to use the insurance and I've hit my cap. I only wish that they had a higher cap. I would have opted for $10,000 had they offered it. One real problem and you're through $5000.

Dedicated

I have been with Trupanion since my dog Sky was 11 months old. They have supported my needs since then. Sky has gone through a few sicknesses and Trupanion has been a life saver.

Excellent support from the beginning.

From the start of submitting my claim agents I worked with were supportive and thoroughly answered all questions I had. Agents were friendly and also inquired about our Cody’s well- being.

Great!

Great Company, claim was fast and easy and they emailed me to ask how my dog Marco was doing. He had a herniated disc and had to be operated on asap. The Company was with me the whole way, and now he is healing nicely and back to his old self, one happy boy.
