Laddie's leg injury.
I appreciated the prompt service and emails regarding the claims process, but I was disappointed that the exam for the injury wasn't included in the coverage, as this wasn't a routine exam or well-puppy/dog visit. My bill was for $735; my deductible is $700; and the $49 exam wasn't covered. Fortunately, Laddie is fully recovered now.

Hidden fees; Per issue deductible not worth it.
We received a first month free of Trupanion from the rescue we adopted from, after the month was over we were charged a number of hidden fees we did not agree to when originally signing up. The monthly fee was significantly more than we could afford or agreed to; and significantly more than competitors! The $250 deductible is also less helpful than advertised; we have yet to hit the deductible for any of the 3 issues our dog has had, yet we have spent over $600 in vet bills.

Trupanion is wonderful.
Trupanion is wonderful. Very clear what is covered. If the vet says it's medically necessary and it's covered, Trupanion pays fast. Never raises its coverage or rates higher than the current premium for a dog the same age as when you first bought insurance for your pet. This is a big deal because many pet insurances will do that.

Rates have increased a lot even for just a 8 week old puppy from when I enrolled my previous dog. Almost double. There was issues with the online application process that made it seem like the puppy wasn’t enrolled but Christian was able to double check and make sure everything was good
