Pet Insurance has been a literal life-saver
I adopted my senior Boston Terrier when she was 8. Almost immediately after adoption, we discovered that she had patellar luxation and needed a double knee surgery, which her insurance paid for. 2 years later, she developed catastrophic issues that sent her to the ER vet. After several days of hospitalization, it was determined that she had an undiagnosed heart valve condition and a blood condition (where her blood gets too thick.) Between the two of these issues, she had developed fluid in her abdomen and kidney shut down, with a bit of pancreatitis sprinkled on top. The entire situation cost well over $7000 to save her life. Without insurance, I don't know how we'd have paid for her care. I was in a lucky spot where when the vets proposed treatment to save her, I didn't have to stop and think, or panic about getting the money, I just got her the care I needed, knowing insurance would help cover her care. Just this year, Trudy developed a mast cell tumor in a very difficult spot in her armpit that required surgery. The location of the tumor, along with her pre-existing conditions, meant she needed to see a surgical specialist to have it removed. Once again, insurance saved the day, and I was able to get Trudy the specialty care she needed. The tumor was removed with good margins, and I have extra time with my best friend.

Absolutely love Healthy Paws!
We have been using Healthy Paws since 2018, and I am so glad we chose this for our pet! As our cat is getting older he is needing more specialized care and increasingly more expensive. Because we have pet insurance I feel more comfortable doing expensive surgeries (our bill went from $5,000 to $2000!) to actually get the care Alfie deserves! Without Healthy Paws we would definitely have to make more considerations about treatment for Alfie. We have been able to do multiple rounds of ultrasounds and biopsies to get to the root cause of what is a typical cancer in cats as they age. If we didn't have insurance, we might not have been able to do these specialized treatments and had to stick to a broader less effective medication. It's already emotionally tolling to see him get older, so it's nice to have some of the financial burden lifted and do what's best for him.

Healthy Paws is the best!
We cannot say enough good things about Healthy Paws! They cover both of our labs and we have submitted many claims, especially for our older lab, with no issues. The app is super easy to use, you get updates on your claim each step of the way, and they complete the claim and reimbursement super fast. We have needed customer service a few times and they have always been friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned about our pet. They have covered multiple surgeries and an ongoing ear issue with no issues and no questions asked. Having Healthy Paws has made it easier for us to make some decisions about our dogs’ care and allowed us peace of mind to choose the best possible care options knowing that we will get most of it reimbursed. Getting Healthy Paws insurance for our fur babies was easily the best decision we have made for them!!

The premiums increase frequently and by substantial amounts. Iâve had pet insurance for almost 2 years and itâs gone up by 1/3 of the original rate I started with. I pay more for pet insurance than I do car insurance.
