My vet charged more for a vaccine, I didn't know the full amount for the visit wouldn't be covered until I received the reimbursement. I think it should be more clear what is covered and what the limits are. but otherwise it was great.

Satisfied with reimbursement
My dog's annual well-check visit was the first time I filed a claim. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to submit the claim on the website, and I was satisfied with the reimbursed coverage.

I really appreciate Pets Best
Our last two pets have been covered by Pets Best! They went above and beyond re: our claims for our last pet Cookie. We enrolled in a new plan for our new pet Poppy! We like the 90% coverage and the annual deductible that includes payment toward claims once the deductible has been paid. In the past, our claims have been paid so quickly. This time it seemed to take a long time. That being said Pets Best did alert me that they were working on the claim, so I appreciated knowing the status of the claim. I also appreciate the Direct Deposit Option and the ease of the billing process and understanding the how the claim was paid and what went toward the deductible. I really appreciate Pets Best! Doesn't cover enough
I would not recommend Nationwide to other pet owners. Pros: the claims process is easy and through an app. Confirmation emails and payouts are sent in a reasonable amount of time. Cons: the application process was not transparent. Nationwide asked for reasons why my pet had visited the vet recently, without telling me that those would become her "pre-existing conditions." Consequently, they covered very little of our costs for routine care. Additionally, preventative care is not covered. This plan was not worth the cost and we will not continue coverage.

Claims could be processed faster
I accidently hit my dog which required a trip to our normal vet and the emergency vet. My total for those visits was significant and I submitted my claim the following day. As I'm planning a trip abroad in a few weeks, I called several times to see if my claim could be pushed forward, and was told each time "claims can take up to 30 days to process". For a reimbursement policy, this does not meet expectations; if a claim is emailed it should be able to go through a few filters and be auto-paid. This time frame should be reviewed as this may be high in the industry. Other pet insurance carriers provide direct billing by providers removing the reimbursement component; if this isn't possible, reimbursement should happen within 7 days of claim receipt.

Would highly recommend
Nationwide pet insurance has been a life saver over this past year and a half! We didn’t know pet insurance was a thing until we started researching our options. Nationwide has cornered up to 90% of our vet bills after our deductible under our whole pet wellness plan. It’s as simple as providing a copy of a receipt and emailing a claim. It takes about 30 days to process, but has been a smooth sailing process in our experience. We were lucky to get our surgery and overall preventative care taken care of!

Amazing service!
We are so lucky to have insurance for Louis through Nationwide. It has been worth every penny and we’ve been reimbursed so easily without issue every time we’ve filed a claim. A couple of years ago he had to have emergency surgery and it was so nice to know that paying for it was one less thing we needed to worry about. The customer service we’ve received any time we’ve called has been stellar.
