if you are going to have to get insurance for your pet, I think Healthy Paws should definitely be on the very top of that list.
I signed up for Healthy paws insurance (80% coverage plan) for both of my dogs last year around June. I thought the premium they charge was fairly reasonable. Covers everything (except pre-existing condition, obviously, 15 days waiting period for any claims, 12 months waiting period for dysplasia) This year in April, my dog torn his ACL and the vet ended up suggesting TPLO surgery on both his hind knees. The bill came out to be absolutely eye watering $11000. I was going to do the surgery whether insurance covers it or not (and yes it would hurt alot but my dog means more to me than 11k. much more). To my surprise, Healthy paws promptly processed the claim, and then have me reimbursed all within 2 weeks, before the credit card bill even show up. As far as I can tell, the preimum I have paid since I signed up is no where near what the bill is. For the first time in my life, I am truely greatful about an insurance company. I normally hate them, especially the auto insurance ... Call me naive, but I am going to keep my policy active as long as possible in hope that one day the total premium will offset this bill ... (wouldn't mind if my dog can live that long). I think, any pet owner needs to buy health insurance for the pet. Vet bills is scary and it's not whether your pet will need it, it's when your pet will need it. And if you are going to have to get insurance for your pet, I think Healthy Paws should definitely be on the very top of that list.

Best decision I ever made!
I bought Trupanion when my dog was a puppy and I am very happy that I did. They have been helping with the cost of a medication which he has to take everyday and would cost me 50.00 a month without insurance.

Great service, great investment!
Quick and easy even though it was a receipt I just found for a kitty I lost in January. I will be adopting a bonded pair of cats sometime in the next month or so, and the FIRST thing I will do is enroll them with Trupanion! Best investment I ever made.

Life Saving Experience
Trupanion has been a life saver for me and my dog. My dog is now 13 years old and I have had Trupanion since he was five. He is a cancer survivor thanks to Trupanion. I could not have afforded the cost and care he has had. I continue to recommend you.

I'm so glad I decided to get pet insurance in case of an emergency
Last year, our new German Shepherd Scout needed surgery to clear an obstruction (she managed to eat a couple rocks) as a young puppy which cost several thousand dollars out of pocket (and of course all the stress we went through before and during surgery). I figured it was time to look into pet insurance after this, and settled on Healthy Paws after looking at other options due to reviews and what was covered. Over the year various check-ups and medications were submitted (most which counted towards the deductible, and where others were not covered there was a specific reason provided as to why). Fast forward to about a year later, Scout suffered a very bad leg fracture and couldn't use her front leg as a result, and required serious surgery. Our worrying about her pain and well-being was bad enough, but when we were hit with the estimated bill ($5,000-$7,000) for surgery it was another punch to the gut. After surgery I submitted a claim to Healthy Paws, thinking in my head "I'm sure this will get rejected for some reason and I won't see a dime" and hoping to get at least something to help cover the cost of the operation and subsequent recovery costs. To my surprise, the FULL amount of my plan (80% of the surgery after deductible, over $4,500) was covered and promptly sent as a check. No arguing on the phone, no other action needed by me after sending the claim in...it was hassle-free and let me concentrate on our dog getting better (let alone helping us sleep at night due to the costs). Representatives also checked in with us to see how Scout was doing shortly after the surgery (yes, real people and not automated emails) and wishing us the best for recovery. This was very appreciated and made us feel much less of a 'number in the system' with an actual connection to the people handling our claims. I can't say enough what a huge relief this was financially and mentally. I hope to never be in this situation again but am so glad that we had the foresight to purchase pet insurance for Scout for just this kind of "what if" scenario. Previously I always thought pet insurance was some kind of scam, and maybe some people aren't as fortunate to have their fur-babies' conditions and problems covered, but I am so happy to have gotten coverage for Scout when I did.

Totally helps with bills
Totally worth every dime out of my paycheck! Pet insurance is a must have if you have a active sporting dog who likes to get into things and is a social being! Nationwide helped out at the time I needed it most and I will continue with them until my little one is no longer. Thank you for being there for Raye:)

As good as it gets
Wonderful client services, knowledgeable client service people. The only snafu was I didn't know there was a set amount for a wellness check and by buying Heartguard, this exceeded the maximum. Would have been nice to know what the max amount was-have it posted on the site.
