Pets Best insurance is literally a lifesaver for my cat Nala. She has been sick with a chronic condition for a year and a half, and has required multiple vet visits, testing when she got complications, and numerous medications, both ongoing for maintenance and others when the condition flares up again. One medication in particular is so expensive, I could never afford it on my own. Pets Best not only pays me back 90% of what I pay to my vet for all these sick visits/treatments, they pay me back so quickly and reliably that I can usually use the money to pay for Nala's next round of medicine! I could never have helped my sweet girl feel better without Pets Best, I really feel they are with me at the vet's office saying, "Don't worry. We've got this!" as I deal with how I'm going to pay for Nala's vet costs. I cannot express how important this has been to our family, knowing we have the security of not having to weigh treating Nala against paying our bills. I honestly don't know why anyone would NOT have pet insurance! But other insurers I'd been with in the past had complicated claims processes or questioned everything so many times that I'd give up and leave money on the table because it was just too time-consuming to deal with it. Pets Best is different, they make the claim submission process so easy! It's all online and crystal clear (or you can do it by mail also, for me online is easier). The only things I need are the vet diagnosis on the claim form and my receipt as paid that gets sent to the Pets Best claims department. If there is ever a question about coverage or details they reach out to me immediately to let me know what my vet may need to explain to them -- but that has only happened maybe twice in over twenty claims they have paid for in the past 18 months. I know this is going to sound over-the-top but I just can't say enough good things about this company. I think when it comes to the health of your animal companions, there is just no way of thanking a company like this for just being who they are.

Reliable insurance
I would like Trupanion to look into covering some percentage if not the 90/10 coverage for pre existing conditions . It's not in our control that some pets develop some issues at an early stage and then any treatment for those issues are not covered at all because they are pre existing .

My first Trupanion claim.
It went very well. In hindsight, I should examine my deductible though for the future. A $200 deductible from a $502 vet bill is quite a chunk. This was my first claim on my 22 month old feline, and hopefully my last. But I still have a follow-up appointment, and I do not even know if that will even be part of the same claim, and if it will be covered on the same deductible already paid.

My company had an option for pet insurance and I decided to look into the reviews of Nationwide pet insurance. I was impressed with their reviews and how their coverage worked. In the past, and not thru my company insurance, it seemed like most companies covered pets until they got older. That's the easy way out for any company. They take your money because they take the least amount of risks. Nationwide has been wonderful. My vet found a lump on my dogs leg and if I had not had insurance i don't think i would have been able to afford to have it removed. My sweet baby girl is doing good and every day with her is a blessing. I would recommend Nationwide to everyone - family, friends and strangers - Much love and appreciation to this company and it's employees.

High Premium Increase
Overall I found Healthy Paws customer service courteous and the claims process was very easy; however, I found it strange that when I submitted a claim, only the percentage of the claim that equaled my reimbursement percentage was applied towards my deductible. For example, if I chose a 90% reimbursement rate after my annual deductible was met, then only 90% of the total amount of my claim was applied. When I questioned the company about this calculation, no one (even management) could provide me with an answer as to why. In my 3rd year of coverage, my premium jumped 25% with no warning. That was the last straw for me.
