Get this insurance for your puppy or kitty when you bring the home!
We’ve carried this insurance since 1987 when we brought our first Yorkie puppy home. I ALWAYS recommend it to new “parents”. You can tailor the policy to meet your premium budget for deductibles, standard coverage for both wellness visits (shots, etc.) and illness. We have been totally pleased with this insurance. We tried a different insurance company once to save on premiums and had an emergency clinic bill over $3,000.00 that the alternate insurance didn’t cover. Now we would have no other than Nationwide Pet Insurance.

Extremely Disappointed
Don’t don’t cover vaccines, wellness and spray/neutering.... and they certainly didn’t help with 2 ER visits! I have paid monthly premiums for nothing.

Best Care For Your Pet
I can't say enough about my experience with Nationwide. I have been able to provide my dog with the best care possible because of pet insurance. It is the best investment you can make for your pet.

Excellent service
Nationwide is a lifesaver if you have pets! The monthly premium is affordable and pays off when our dog inevitably has a medical issue. Timely service and super easy electronic claim submission!

Everything is great except the increased price
I have had Nationwide Pet Ins. (formerly VPI) on all of my dogs for the past 15 years and have always been pleased until 2020 when my premium increased by $60.00 a month. As a single female, senior citizen, it actually pushed me out of my budget range of affordability. There are SO many pet ins. companies out there begging for business who have customized plans. The only reason I didn’t switch is that my pup is 11 years old, has been covered by Nationwide since Day 1 and didn’t want the hassle of starting with a new company so far into this relationship. However, with my next rescue pups, will go elsewhere as cannot afford NW. Their max amounts paid per diagnosis are fairly low in comparison to some of the other pet ins. companies.

Having two labs, I am happy I have Nationwide Insurance for them.
I think purchasing insurance for my labs was the best investment. While the deductibles can be a bit high, overall I've been satisfied with the service of Nationwide for my dogs and the bills that they have covered. I think in the long run it's totally worth it. Customer Services is great, turn around time on claims is awesome.

Unreasonably low reimbursement rates
The claim filing process is simple, but the reimbursement is substantially lower than it should be. Not sure it's worth the annual premium.
