Easy Peasy

It is so easy to process a claim for Ellie Mae! I really like just taking a picture of her detailed checkout sheet and my receipt, then submitting. It is simple to login and check the status, plus I do receive emails as well. The explanation around benefits paid is also helpful. This is my second year using Pet's Best and it has been a great experience!

Nuclear-Grade Incompetence

This is the most dysfunctional insurance company I've ever worked with. My claims keep being denied because the claims department never thinks to ask the records department for, you know, RECORDS before denying my claims. Uploading records to my portal on the app does nothing; so I now have to email records directly to the claims department and then call and tell them that the email exists. Then the records department has to connect that email with my claim number, despite my claim number being in the header of the email. The departments flat out don't communicate with each other. Calling it a circus wouldn't be fair. Circuses are better coordinated. Even if the claims department knew what it was doing, it wouldn't change the fact that reimbursement takes forever. It's been six weeks and I haven't seen a dime. My cat can't receive life-saving treatment because all of my claims get denied. The claims department is working overtime to prove my cat has a preexisting condition, despite two annual wellness exams and blood work proving she was always a healthy cat. My veterinarian is even willing to testify that my cat was never sick before her issues started. Doesn't matter. Did I mention one of my claims is just an error message now? I guess that's not getting reimbursed any time soon. I have no faith that this company will ever pay me. And now that my cat is sick, I can't switch insurance companies. They know that. So they aren't attempting to help me at all. I pay extra for 90% reimbursement with no annual limit. I guess someone knocked the 9 off of that 90 and never bothered to put it back. Pets Best is that cousin who's always borrowing money and promises to pay you back next week, next month, next year, once he gets a job, once he pays off his car, once he wins the lottery, once he becomes a billionaire. It's not happening. Ditch the cousin and find a better insurance company.

Trupanion failed badly

First claim after one year as a new client. We claimed a Cardiology consult due to a cough. Pet had never had any known cardiac issues. However, buried in her many years of records was a single one time remark about a mild arrhythmia during dental anesthesia. Trupanion used this to deny us a claim. This was never mentioned in their Medical Evaluation they do in your first month with them. Honestly they must have used AI to find such a tiny detail in 11years of records. Fought them for a month on this. Even had the Vets send in statements saying this can be absolutely normal and not what they were trying to say. Trupanion stuck to their guns. So we quit them. No need to keep paying them a premium for nothing. Ended up, what they used to deny our claim wasn't even the issue. Learned our pet had cancer completely unrelated to anything cardiac. So their argument wasn't even relevant. They were so closed minded and they look for ANY reason not to cover. First and last experience with this useless company. I do not like being ripped off after being blindsided by a detail not included or mentioned in their initial 30 day medical evaluation. We had Pet Plan 10 Years before them with zero issues until they raised rates on us after being bought out. Stay away from these folks unless you start with a perfectly healthy newborn pup. They do everything they can to “connect one thing to another” and deny deny deny, accurate or not. And they mislead you with their new member Medical Evaluation. Terrible. Do not trust them.

Non of medical expenses were covered

I have a newly adopted dog that came from a rescue. The dog came with no known medical history. After repeatedly having digestion issues I took him to a pet emergency. Almost all of the services that were provided by the clinic were described as covered in my policy. I had to wait a whole month before the claim was processed and I was finally notified that I get $0 back. The only provided explanation was "preexisting condition."

Moe's hip fracture

One of my cats fractured his hip and I sent Pets Best both of the invoices from his vet. Pets Best verified this information with my vet and paid my claim, all in a short amount of time. I am so glad I took out a policy on my cats, I never thought anything like this would happen to a house cat!"

Frankie was supported

Our young cat had acute bladder inflammation that needed diagnosis and treatment. Met Life’s online claim submission was simple and I had no problems getting the claims covered. It was very helpful for us.

Great Insurance for puppers

We have been using healthy paws for our two boston terriers for a few years now. Our boston boy has not used his policy at all, while our lady boston has had to have multiple surgeries and is allergic to just about everything. Healthy Paws has been great for both of our little ones. The claims are processed quickly with no hassle and compensation is sent out quickly. I was skeptical about pet insurance but after our experience, I feel like it is an absolute necessity, and would highly recommend healthy paws.

Satisfied Customer

Both of my Boxers are insured with Healthy Paws for the last 10 years, and I cannot stress how important it is to get pet insurance as soon as you get a pet. I have filed multiple claims on both dogs, and have never been denied reimbursement. I used it for ortho issues, stroke (FCE) and physical therapy, cancer with one, then I just find out yesterday that the other one has a tumor on his thyroid gland and it will need to be surgically removed and go to pathology to see if it is malignant. Healthy Paws will pay for all of this. It is peace of mind knowing that you can properly care for your pet and that you don't have to let them die because treatment is not affordable.

filing a claim

filing a claim was easy and a quick turn around for payment. I really like the option of direct deposit as well. I had to call customer service about adding to the claim and how my benefit work. they were very helpful and caring about my dogs case. I highly recommend them.
