Pre-exisiting conditions
It appears just like healthcare for people, that a pre-existing condition can negate any help in paying bills. That's too bad.

Problem resolved
Patrick was the 3rd representative in a week that I spoke to and the only one to resolve the problem. Trupanion had placed a claim under the wrong pet despite what the veterinarian's receipt stated. My pet has a life threatening condition and I depend on the reimbursement to pay for her next round of meds. Though Patrick worked hard to get the claim resolved, I still have not received my reimbursement and will have to pay our of pocket again for more meds in the morning.

Wonderful
Trupanion has been wonderful to deal with right from when we started our policy 3 years ago. Unfortunately our dog needed hospitalization and medical treatment and testing recently and Trupanion was again helpful, compassionate and made a difficult time a little easier. Many thanks!

Pre-exisiting conditions
First of all I didn't know my dog had a heart problem vet. writing is heard to read. He had been to his regular vet in Aiken and it was never noted about a heart condition. Aiken vet suggested UGA that when I found out about it. The Internal Medicine Vet recommend a heart Doctor. So I guess He won't be getting any more of his medicine because I don't have any more saving in my account left. Sad new

Rehab coverage
I wish you would have told me about the rehab not being covered when I signed up for my original contract. I didn't know it was a separate cost or I would have paid for it upfront. Now I'm having to pay 100% of the pet costs & it's an outrageous amount of money. If Codi needs more then 2 months of it, I will have to consider putting her down which would be devastating after all the work we've done to rehab her after surgery.

Multiple items
I'd be more inclined to recommend Trupanion if it wasn't for a few major (to me) things. First, every time I call, I wait on hold for at least 15 minutes! Second, my dog had debris in her ear when I got her as a puppy and I took her to the vet before my coverage kicked in, next time she had an ear issue, the claim was denied because you say it is a pre existing condition. I find that to be absurd. It's not a continued issue...each episode is a new one and she has only had two, so it's not a chronic issue!! Third, I have a large circle of bully breed friends as I work in the bulldog/boxer rescue world. Have now for 14 years. I had to jump through appeals with my bulldogs doctor to get Trupanion to cover her brachiocephalic surgery! Every single bulldog should have this surgery in order to live a full and healthy life!!! If Trupanion is going to continue to cover brachiocephalic dogs, this surgery should be covered without having to go through what we went through to get it covered. I pay a high price monthly for my pups coverage and I expect to be covered on the things she needs. Something to consider.

Wouldn't recommend
I wouldn't recommend Trupanion because they don't pay for much. I ended up paying more in premiums throughout my dog's life and yet very little was covered in return. I had very expensive vet bills I couldn't afford and my dog didn't get the medical care he needed because I couldn't afford to take him in, even with Pet insurance. It wasn't worth it for me.
