Absolutely The Best Pet Health Insurance
When I began my search eleven years ago for pet health insurance I did considerable research for what I thought would be the best insurance for the best value. I chose Healthy Paws and have never regretted my decision. I have used Healthy Paws several times over the years and have never been disappointed. Simply put, they do what they say they will do and they do it very promptly. About three weeks ago, my precious eleven year old Shih Tzu had an emergency gastrointestinal bleed. She was admitted to CARE Animal Hospital in Charlotte, NC where she spent five days. CARE’s treatment was exceptional and my little Spicey is on her way to a full recovery. My hospital bill for her was almost $5;000. I submitted my claim by cellphone using the Healthy Paws app. It was simple and easy. To my amazement, my 90% reimbursement was posted into my checking account within 36 hours. They also sent me a very nice email asking me about her recovery and reassured me that they would be there for any additional assistance. There simply isn’t a better pet insurance company than Healthy Paws!

Disappointing Experience
I’ve been paying over $120 a month for insurance on my two dogs, and unfortunately, my experience has been incredibly disappointing. My dog, Emmie, has had some mild itching, and when I submitted a claim, I was told it was considered a pre-existing condition due to “year-round” itching. However, I explained that this was caused by a shampoo issue with her groomer, and after changing shampoos, the problem cleared up. I called and did an appeal, and even had the vet write a letter explaining that there was no diagnosis of a skin condition and that this should not be considered a pre-existing issue. Despite all this, they still denied the claim. They did pay for her food at first but then reprocessed the claim after I asked why they weren't covering her allergy medication—and ended up denying the food too.

Awesome Company
I’ll keep it short. Enrolled my boy at five months old, he’s now almost 7. In his short life he’s had two ER visits and a lifetime of asthma, requiring not-cheap meds. Healthy Paws has completely lived up to their promises. Of the $3300 I’ve put into ER visits I’ve gotten my covered 90% back without questions, and my boy’s asthma meds, which these days cost me $175 every two months, are 90% reimbursed after my deductible, again, no questions asked. The best part - I’ve not had a single claim take more than 24 hours to be approved and I get my direct deposited reimbursement the next day. After 6 years I’m so far ahead they’ll be in effect paying my premiums for another few years before they will sniff making a profit from me. Bad for them, good for me. I can’t describe how not worrying about the cost of vet visits for illness or injury is much less stressful knowing I’ve got these guys behind me. Having an unhappy critter is bad enough. These guys take the financial stress completely away.

Great claim processing and reimbursement experiences
My dog recently injured her leg and we had to take her to the vet. I didn't submit the claim right away because we were focused on helping her recover from her injury and I actually forgot about it. A couple of weeks later, I found the vet receipt and submitted my claim - within two weeks the claim was processed, and my reimbursement had already been deposited into my account. This is a consistent experience with claim processing, and Pets Best is the best pet insurance that we've had for our animals in the last 20 years.

I am extremely satisfied with the ease and speed in which my claims have been processed. I have spoken highly about Pets Plus us to several people who own pets and recommend they consider your insurance. Kudos to everyone who’s been involved in helping me with my dog, Pepper.

Embrace is a scam
In January of 2024 I got Embrace pet insurance for my dog, after he had knee surgery on his left knee. The policy stated that there would be a 6-month waiting period before any orthopedic claims could be made. They requested and received in February of 2024 my vet records clearly showing he had knee surgery. In February of 2025 my dog required surgery on his right knee, it was over the 6-month waiting period, so I submitted the invoice. After 5 weeks they said it was a preexisting condition and sent a list of other issues that would not be covered. At no point in the year since they had his medical records did they send me a note that his left leg had anything to do with his right leg. I bought the insurance for peace of mind - they should have said once they got his records what they considered a preexisting condition. I would have shopped elsewhere for insurance. This is not only poor business practice but fraudulent since they had the information about his left leg operation over a year ago.

Pet’s Best is amazing!
Thank goodness for Pet's Best! Grizzly wasn't feeling right, I was at work so my husband took him to the ER vet and they brushed it off saying it was likely a Gl bug and did no testing. I got home from work and knew something wasn't right so l brought him right back and demanded they did further testing because I knew something was very wrong. Sure enough he had colonic torsion, a medical emergency that is life threatening and needs emergent surgical intervention. I rushed him to the only ER vet in the area with a board certified surgeon on call at 2am and by some miracle they saved him. He's alive and okay today. The vet bill was out of this world but thanks to Pet's Best I didn't have to think or worry about money because I knew they had my back. I could just focus on my Grizzly getting the prompt treatment he needed and a smooth recovery afterward which is how it should be. Thank you so much Pet's Best! The process is also incredibly easy and not daunting to submit your claims. It's just one less thing to worry about when you have other, bigger things on your plate with your pets.
