Extreme Rate Increase

I am extremely disappointed in Trupanion... I did my research ahead of time, came to this site for reviews, and decided to enroll my 3 bullmastiffs under this policy. Bullmastiffs were 6 years, 8 weeks, and 7 months when I enrolled them... Up to now, I had been extremely satified with the policy... However, I was notified on each anniversary date of my bullmastiffs policies, the price increase doubled!!! My one policy was going from $55.37/mnth to $105/mnth for the same coverage.. My other 2 policies would be going from $39.54/mnth to $77.15/mth.. This is EXTREME!!! I understand the need for these companies to raise rates but this increase is WAY TOO MUCH. When speaking to a representative, I was told that I was able to adjust my deductible but the price did not come down that much... So, right now, I have moved 2 bullmastiffs to Embrace and the 3rd bullmastiff will be moved once all claims submitted have been resolved. Very disappointing.....

Great Service

I have been with Trupanion for a little over 10 months now and have had multiple visits to the vet with my puppy. I have never had a problem or a long lag in reimbursements!!! I recommend this insurance sompany to everyone I meet that doesn't not currently have, or know too much about, pet insurance.

My name is Larisa and I would like to share my recent experience. Recently my Wire Fox Terrier Maya tore a ligament on her left knee. For those people who haven’t had the pleasure, it is a very expensive surgery. My husband and I recently moved to a new home and money is tight right now, but that being said we are never short for pet insurance as we all know how expensive keeping our beloved animals healthy can be. Maya’s surgery cost over 4.5 thousand dollars. Ouch would be an understatement at this point. Anyway we paid and within two weeks after the surgery Trupanion came through and we received a staggering 90% reimbursement. The whole process was so easy, and stress free. This is the best pet insurance experience I have ever had, and would like to thank the entire staff of Trupanion who helped get this done in a very fast and easy manner. I am a very happy member and will never go back to any other pet insurance after this. Once again my family and I would like to express our sincerest gratitude.

Would not Recommend Trupanion

I have had Trupanion for about a year not had to put in a claim and my boxer female just turned 3 yrs old. I got a notice in the mail that my premium will be going up 70% !! I was floored. I called them to ask why and they said due to Breed related factors and the area I was in they needed to adjust the price, and offered to raise my deductible to keep the same plan. BS!! In my opinion if you have to raise your rates 70% in one year because you mis calculated the cost. Someone is not doing their job or the company is on shaky grounds. BTW this is North Texas not Bedford NY Prices are not that high.

Good Major Medical Insurance for a fair price.

I signed up my adopted 6 year old Jack Russell with Trupanion earlier this year and recently had a major claim due to an infection that required surgery. The Trupanion representative was easy to reach on the phone and was great in helping me obtain the required paperwork. Trupanion paid exactly what their advertising and contract promised and they provided a detailed explanation for each item in my claim. They processed the claim very quickly once I obtained and faxed them the necessary paperwork from my vet and the surgeon. There is a fairly high deductible and the policy doesn't cover preventive care but that's appropriate for a "major medical" policy. It provides exactly what I need to ensure that I won't have to deal with a huge medical bill for a major sickness or injury and the premiums are very reasonable compared to the cost of "full coverage" insurance I looked into. Overall, I'm very pleased with the policy and with the company.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
