Trupanion ..good partner for your pet's well being

Both of our previous Golden Retrievers were enrolled with Trupanion ...due to our last pet's medical issues, I would never be without pet insurance. Whenever we contacted one of your Reps, they were always most helpful. Have just enrolled our new puppy ..the process was completed in a professional and informative manner. Our Vet Clinic is able to submit any claims directly from their Office ...very convenient. I understand that payment to the Vet Clinic can now be done as well. Thank-you for your assistance last Friday to set up a plan for my new puppy.

Pretty awesome idea to give people a…

Pretty awesome idea to give people a free month of pet insurance, however to actually get customers to continue using the insurance, they should actually cover a vet bill during the free month trial...otherwise what is the point. Refused coverage for a vet bill after signing up for the insurance. Looking into the payments as well, they seem rather expensive ($160 range / month). Seems quite a bit more than other companies.

Decided to buy insurance for our pup when we had to forego our vacation to pay for our oldest dog’s vet bills.

I enrolled online for our youngest dog. No problems. Insurance is one of those things you pay for hoping you never have to use it. Molly is our sixth dog and the first we have bought insurance for. We have taken some financial hits over the years but nothing astronomical. Then we took Charlie (our oldest) to the vet and found out he needs a cardiac ultrasound to rule out a heart issue before having surgery to remove a cracked tooth. We are canceling a planned vacation because Charlie’s vet bills are going to use up most of our vacation fund. That’s when I decided to get insurance for the pup, Molly, and I hope we never have to use it!! The enrollment process was very easy. It’s not cheap but we look at it as forced savings and pray that if and when an issue arises, it will be covered.

We initially were going for a different plan

We initially were going for a different company offering a lower monthly premium, however, it also then had limits on what amounts they would contribute towards treatments. We then made an appointment with a new vet (our old one went out of business) who recommended trupanion, touting its policy of no limits, and full coverage of any emergency. The immediate 30 day coverage was completed by the receptionist before we left the vet, and I completed the full coverage by phone. All was explained to me in detail, allowing me to choose which deductible amount was good for us, and now all is in place and our four year old 'Ashton' can enjoy a long and happy life.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
