Trupanion pets lead longer happier lives.1 Pets insured with Trupanion lived longer than pets without Trupanion because pet parents didn’t have to worry about the cost of the care their pet needed. Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). They have transformed the way pet insurance handles claims by eliminating the reimbursement process. Trupanion was founded in Canada and provides bets-in-class coverage and is dedicated to helping pets we love get the care they need. They’ve been around for more than 20 years, making them experts and setting standards for the industry. One perk of this, and what they pride themselves on, is the amount they pay out to pet owners for each claim. Paying out more on the dollar than any other pet insurance provider. To date they have paid out $2 Billion in claims and have insured nearly 1 million pets. To put it simply, there is a reason why 98.7% of Trupanion members stay enrolled every month. 1Based on a December, 2020 Trupanion study analyzing third party hospital claims data comparing pets insured with a Trupanion policy to pets without a Trupanion policy. *Terms and conditions apply. Don't believe what you read

Don't believe what you read. They deny claims for false reasons. They are rude. They get afraid when you tell them you will record the call. They are looking for any reason to deny part or all of your claim. When you google them you will see the numerous lawsuits they have and complaints. Do yourself a favor and put the money aside and not to these people.

A company that do not respect their obligations

We decided to cancel our insurance. We had an allergy issue with our dog and they refused to accept it, they decided it was a problem that was there before we got the insurance. Our veterinary wrote a letter telling them that it was a completely new problem, that allergies can appear at anytime and that our dog never had any of it before. They accepted at first, but when we had to go back for our dog’s medic for allergies, they refused again. After talking to 5 different people, one guy finally confirmed that they threw the letter away and never let any note about that ! They said that they could not accept even with the files out veterinary filled an other time telling them it was a new condition. They are not able to fulfil their obligations and I thing about going after them for moral and economic damages because we lost a lot of time with this and now no insurance will accept us for this condition because it won’t be new for them. Really a bad experience ! I do not suggest at all !

Pet care a racket once insurance companies step in

2 cats enrolled at 3 months old and 13 months old. Both healthy. No issues. Premiums were 2023 -$42, 2024 - $59, 2025 - $68, 2026 - $82. This represents premium hikes of 40%, 15%, and 21% respectively. Most "issues" cost $250-$500/yr - sneezy pet, blood in stool. Most pet-owners opt for a $250 deductible. For the $800+/yr in premiums, consider a "pet savings account". In the end of your pet's life, you get the money back if your pet enjoyed a healthy life. And if they need heart or brain surgery, maybe it's a sign our pet's time is up. Supporting pet insurance has resulted in pet surgeries and pet medications rivaling human medical treatment costs. We've all seen the "surgery rooms" and "pet recovery rooms" at pet hospitals: considerably sub-standard to human facilities yet the price charged is equal. My non-resident husband paid $3,100 for knee surgery in an Ontario hospital. The cost of cat knee surgery is $3,500-7,000. The pet-care industry has turned into a racket.

Our premiums jumped 70 bucks more per…

Our premiums jumped 70 bucks more per month. They go up it seems as the dog gets older. Would not do this again. You're far better putting that money into the bank. 185 to now 254. It's outrageous. Getting the sense that they want you drop it, they've made the bucks off you when the dog was younger and healthier. Beware of this company as your pet gets older.

Monthly Cost

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
