Trupanion pets lead longer happier lives.1 Pets insured with Trupanion lived longer than pets without Trupanion because pet parents didn’t have to worry about the cost of the care their pet needed. Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). They have transformed the way pet insurance handles claims by eliminating the reimbursement process. Trupanion was founded in Canada and provides bets-in-class coverage and is dedicated to helping pets we love get the care they need. They’ve been around for more than 20 years, making them experts and setting standards for the industry. One perk of this, and what they pride themselves on, is the amount they pay out to pet owners for each claim. Paying out more on the dollar than any other pet insurance provider. To date they have paid out $2 Billion in claims and have insured nearly 1 million pets. To put it simply, there is a reason why 98.7% of Trupanion members stay enrolled every month. 1Based on a December, 2020 Trupanion study analyzing third party hospital claims data comparing pets insured with a Trupanion policy to pets without a Trupanion policy. *Terms and conditions apply. BEWARE SCAM COMPANY.

BEWARE SCAM COMPANY. The 1st month you pay for your puppy is not covered. You're also paying an additional 50 dollars for the first month just to not be covered. Any symptoms he develops within 30 days will be considered pre-existing symptoms. After the 30 days period, they would still consider the symptom as pre-existing even if its just a cough and would not cover it. Go with the costco pet insurance instead. 1st month is free.

A Disappointing and Frustrating Experience

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Trupanion Pet Insurance. My recent experience with them has been nothing short of frustrating, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn other pet owners who might be considering their services. Background: I enrolled my Norwegian Elkhound puppy, Jarl, in Trupanion on July 5, 2024, expecting that their coverage would provide peace of mind in case of any health issues. However, my experience has been far from reassuring. On August 1, 2024, Jarl experienced an episode of diarrhea. We took him to the vet on August 1, 2024, and then proceeded with his scheduled vaccinations on August 8, 2024, and August 16, 2024. After these vaccinations, Jarl had another bout of diarrhea on August 18, 2024, which we reported to Trupanion. Claim Rejection: Trupanion rejected our claim, citing that Jarl's diarrhea was a "pre-existing condition" based on notes from Plessis Veterinary Hospital. They conveniently connected the August 1st episode of diarrhea to the incident on August 18th, despite Jarl being perfectly healthy during his veterinary checkups on August 8th and 16th. These critical details, which clearly demonstrate that the diarrhea was not an ongoing issue but rather a response to the vaccinations, were completely ignored. Customer Service: Throughout this process, Trupanion's customer service has been abysmal. Despite providing all necessary documentation and repeatedly explaining the situation, their team failed to conduct a thorough review of Jarl's medical history. They refused to consider the full context and instead focused only on the details that suited their narrative to deny the claim. This kind of selective review is unprofessional and unacceptable. When I pointed out their oversight, I was met with standard responses insisting that I file an appeal, placing the burden of proof on me and my veterinarian. It's disappointing that a company that markets itself as caring and efficient would push their customers into a lengthy and stressful appeals process, simply because they couldn't be bothered to review the records correctly in the first place. Conclusion: I chose Trupanion for their promise of quick and hassle-free claims processing, but this experience has been anything but that. Not only have I spent hours in back-and-forth communication, but I've also been forced to navigate their bureaucratic system just to get what should have been a straightforward claim processed. If you are considering pet insurance, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. Trupanion has proven to be unprofessional, inefficient, and more concerned with finding reasons to deny claims than actually supporting the health and well-being of pets. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration—choose a company that actually stands by their promises.

Beware of this company !

Beware of this company !! My 8 month old puppy got bit by a rattle snake. She was in bad shape. We rushed her to the emergency vet. While my wife was in with our dog Maisy I called Trupanion. My questions were simple. Am I covered or not? We had to make a life or death decision. All I got was basically “sorry, I can’t tell you if it is a covered claim”. We were on our own to make the decision if we go ahead with treatment or let her pass. We obviously went ahead, we love our pets. Maisy is doing fine now. The bills were submitted and we learned that they covered the claim but don’t pay for the initial emergency assessment, taxes and certain other things on the bill. This was a large bill. To not pay to have your animal assessed after an accident is absolutely ridiculous. It’s like your car insurer not paying to have your car appraised after an accident. Totally incomprehensible. Then the tax not paid, along with other things on the bill. Don’t give into the advertising hype with this company. They love the dollar not your pet. My neighbour uses Fetch pet insurance and they pay for the taxes, assessment fees and have much broader coverage. I have 2 dogs inured with Trupanion and the rates have gone up steadily over the 8 years with ZERO claims made. This was our first experience having to use the insurance. I will be doing whatever I can to switch to a different company. I would recommend staying away from Trupanion.

My very first experience making a claim…

My very first experience making a claim was this past week with my miniature Dachshund who is 1 year old. She was not passing anything into her colon and was vomiting. The vet suspected an obstruction. The experience with Trupanion was nothing short of remarkable. I couldn’t believe how quickly everything was approved. It was so nice to know I had coverage when my vet suggested surgery. Thank you Trupanion for living up to what I was told!!!!
