Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). What you want in pet insurance.
This is our first experience with pet insurance and after a year and a half, it has performed exactly as advertised. The agents are friendly and helpful, and once the deductible is met, claim payments are sent out quickly. I truly hope that I will go on paying the premiums for many years, and that I will have no reason to file a more claims, but it is nice to know that if something serious comes up, Trupanion will have our back.

Excellent Service
In my 75 years I have only experienced two companies who live up to their Advertising one is Trupanion (the other is Michelin X ICE tires)I would recommended your company to ANYONE

Trupanion is a lifesaver with True Compassion!
Dogs have been a part of our family for over 30 years, but we never even thought of buying pet insurance until adopting our Bernese Mountain Dog puppy last year. We knew this breed had a history of cancer over time, so we elected to purchase Trupanion insurance coverage in order to have options, should we be faced with hard treatment choices.
What we didn't know is that at 8 months of age our puppy would suffer with seizures and would soon be diagnosed with epilepsy. MRI's and other diagnostic tests are pricey. The medications are beyond expensive and will be lifelong.
Purchasing Trupanion early-on was a stroke of genius, even though we didn't know it at the time. Not only have they provided extremely rapid approvals and reimbursements for our dog's care, they do so with extremely personalized and professional service. They communicate with true compassion.
We are so grateful to be able to make medical choices for our dog that are based on his needs and not the price. This is all because of the exceptional coverage, care and compassion of the folks at Trupanion.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early!
