Best insurance ever
After the first $500 for any one incident, Trupanion pays 90% and pays very quickly. I have 3 dogs covered with them ( 7, 10 and 12 years old).

Truly a life saver
2 days after our puppy was shipped to us at 8 weeks old, he was diagnosed with parvo. Our Trupanion coverage was an introductory trial provided by the breeder, with the first month free. At 2AM in the ER, I called Trupanion, which we'd only activated for a few days, and the representative waited with me on the phone for over an hour while the diagnosis was made. She submitted our case for an immediate rush to the claims specialists for preapproval, and by 8AM, the claim specialist called me on her cell phone to guarantee payment for our puppy's treatments. During the course of his 16 day stay in the ER, he also came down with giardia, roundworms, and aspiration pneumonia. We were told that he probably wouldn't make it every single day, but because we had Trupanion's financial backing, we did not give up on him, and he kept fighting. Today he is alive and thriving, having beat the odds, because of Trupanion. Trupanion paid nearly $16,500 for his treatment during that one month free trial. The remarkable thing is, we had not submitted any premiums up to that point. Payment was extremely prompt compared to PetPlan, which insures our other pets. Frequently reimbursements would be direct deposited into our checking account within less than a week of claims submission. And although we did not take advantage of this--they could have also directly paid the treating hospital instead of reimbursing us, further lessening the financial burden. Needless to say, we signed up for full coverage before the introductory trial expired. Even if our dog lives to a ripe old age and never has another illness, Trupanion will never recover from premiums the amount they've already paid in claims. Their customer service, sense of urgency, and standing by their policy has been impressive and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wants to know that they're buying the best for their family member.

Good coverage and once the claim is started the checks arrived in 2-3 days. Im pleased with this insurance. Everybody who we talked to at trupanion was very helpful.

Trupanion service
I love this insurance for my pet . Super affordable and reliable !! I have had my dog for a year and a half and she's a very energetic get into everything type of dog. So every time my dog has a health problem or has an accident where we need to rush her to the vet. My insurance is always there to help me out and I greatly appreciate it ! I wish this insurance had human care I would switch in a heartbeat :)

Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
