Great Company to Deal With

Our dog had become restless and was acting as if she was in pain. We took her to the nearest veterinary emergency hospital and x-rays showed she may have had some compressed disks in her back. We were sent home with medication but after 24 hours in which she would neither eat or drink or take her meds, we went back for further review. A blood test still did not show anything else. A day later, she started to feel better and we could see improvement. The whole experience cost us around $800, but thanks to our pet insurance we only have to pay about half of that. The best part is, the checks were sent within 2 days of the visit to the veterinary hospital.

Didn't expect the reimbursment to be so quick!

Our 5.5 pound Chihuahua-mix was suffering from acute diarrhea and spent the night in doggie hospital on IV fluids and antibiotics. The claim submitted by the vet was processed within 3 days and we received a reimbursement check shortly thereafter.

Rate hike over 20%

In Trupanion policy guide they state "This annual adjustment will never exceed 20% in any given year." We had increase from $30.34 to $49.91! I called and inquired and they said, oh thats our policy for everywhere but New York. There is nothing in their policy guide that states there is an exception for New York. We have a young healthy cat, we have never filed a claim. This rate hike is outrageous. How can you trust a company to be there when your pet is in need, when they don't follow their own rules.

Trupanion made the process extremely smooth when I needed to contact them about our pet care. The young man I spoke to on the phone was very informative and helped me with all of my questions without making me feel anxious! Timely follow up is greatly appreciated!

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
