It was very good not having to worry about if I could afford the treatment my pet needed. I understood and could afford what was my part of the expense, and did not need to worry that I would have a later fight on my hands obtaining the proportion expected from my Insurer. Trupanion has been fast, efficient, professional and kind while dealing with me and my dog'semergency surgeries.

We were dealing with a very sick dog who had swallowed a sock. Trupanion helped us financially as they said they would and I had my refund within 3-4 days! Unheard of!! Highly recommend them to all pet owners. No run around or stalling at all! Highly professional and when they say something, they do it and stand behind their name and reputation.

Claim processing

This past year trying to get claims processed by Trupanion has been very hard. In the past I did not have this issue but It took months of my vet sending in the claims and then finally having my Vet Trupaion rep hand carry all of the claims in order for me to get reimbursed. I also had to cancele Banning's policy with Trupanion because of his death. Trupanion promptly sent me a refund check for the balance of his premium that I had paid. This check was returned to my bank and I was charged a fee for the returned check. I am still waiting for that check to be replaced.

Amazing service

My dog had two MAJOR emergency surgeries two weeks ago. Trupanion did not give us any hassles or question us in anyway. We paid the necessary deductibles and they covered 90% of the remaining costs no questions asked. I would never use another pet insurance company. They are absolutely wonderful!

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
