So glad I went with Pets + Us!!

When we purchased our yellow lab, he came with six weeks insurance from another provider. As I closed in on the 6 week expiry I had chatted with a client/breeder and told her I was in the market and she recommended this company. I did some more research myself and Pets+Us was the one I chose. So glad we did!! Our 10 month old lab almost lost his life about 6 weeks ago due to a stomach issue and needing emergency surgery.I sent in my claim and was contacted immediately that they had received it and were reviewing it. There was some missing info that was needed so they emailed me and I took that to my vet to finish the process. To my surprise, someone from the company had contacted my vet directly and had them fax over the missing info. What a relief that I wouldn't need to wait anymore time to get reimbursed. My experience with any kind of insurance has always been that the client does all the running around and collecting of info. I called to make sure they had everything they needed and the person on the other end of the call spoke to me as if I were a friend asking how my family member was and wishing him well. I was thrilled to receive another call back as well to see how he was making out. The total turn around was less than 3 weeks I believe and the money was deposited electronically right to our account. I tell all my pet owning friends about how impressed I was with Pets+Us and their process. I hope I never need to use them again, but if I do, I am glad it is them I will be dealing with!

Not just a number

I have read some of the other reviews, & yes sometimes it can take a while to get a refund, however I was encouraged by the wonderful & I mean wonderful, thoughtful, empathetic client services staff to change my payment method to direct bank deposit & my reimbursements were much quicker in being processed. Every single staff member I spoke was expectional in their endeavour to help me however they could, all the time keeping in mind that putting in a claim meant something was wrong with Sam who they asked about on every call there after. Honestly, nothing but wonderful things to say.

Very Impressed so Far!

I have been very impressed with PetPlusUs. Luckily, my 8 week old Golden Retriever came with a 6 week free starter trial with PetPlusUs. Within 3 days of him being home, he became very sick with puppy strangles. This wound up costing me well over $700 and treatment is still ongoing. He is now 14 weeks old. I was able to utilize their 24/hr Emergency Help Phone when he first became sick and they were extremely helpful. After the trial expired, I was given a free month of complimentary coverage in return for signing up for their full policy. I have yet to pay a cent to this company as this complimentary month has not ended, but I have already received a payment from them. Currently, they have processed just over $550 worth of claims and I have been reimbursed $345. Their representatives are extremely courteous, and I was very pleased when they called during my trial period to inquire about my new puppy and provide me with more information about their coverage. I would highly recommend PetPlusUs. Although I was skeptical that I would ever get a payout with any pet insurance company, they have proven me wrong!

Excellent Service

Our pet came with insurance from the breeder for a couple of months. when it was up I called them to get information. they were very helpful and explained to me the different options and policies. I have never had an issue with any of my claims and the only delay I encountered was when they where changing under writers. I have now renewed our policy and have no regrets. Before renewing a called Pets+Us twice with my questions and they were always polite and very helpful. I hav made claims from the moment our Chocolate Lab came home and had her vaccines, and even when she was neutered, no issues with the reimbursements. When she had an ear infection at 13 months, we had no issues with the claims either.

Peace of mind

I have had my two cats insured with this company for many years and while I didn't have to use the insurance for the first 2+ years and questioned at the time having it as a monthly expense, my partner refused to own pets without it because of an experience she had had with her previous cat. I know understand why. It wasn't until our cats turned about 6 that one became diabetic and the other at 7.5 years old was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. It is now years after getting Pets Plus Us insurance and both our cats (who we would do anything for) have life-long conditions that require expensive medications and blood monitoring. I can't imagine not having insurance and trying to make ends meet for their medical bills. I now understand my partners refusal to have pets without insurance and agree 100%. Thank you Pets Plus Us for always being there for my "fur" family.

Monthly Cost

Monthly costs vary based on your pet’s species, age, and location, as well as your chosen plan. Customize coverage to suit your pet’s needs and your budget.


You have a co-pay of 10%, 20% or 30%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill and includes coverage of exam fees and taxes.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $5,000 in Accident Only coverage, or $7,500 or $15,000 in Accident & Illness coverage annually, depending on your chosen plan.


$100 – $700 age-based annual deductible.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. There is no upper age limit.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins after 48 hours for accidents. A policy waiting period of 14 days applies for illnesses.


All pet insurance plans have limitations and exclusions. Medical Conditions that are noted, symptomatic or diagnosed prior to enrollment, or during a waiting period are pre-existing to Coverage and not eligible for reimbursement. All Accident & Illness policies are underwritten upfront so pet owners are aware of any pre-existing conditions that will not be covered prior to making a claim.
