I signed up for Healthy Paws when my pup was just 10 weeks old. The 2 week accident free waiting period was worrisome, but not overly so. If I had been smart, I would have signed Pippa up 2 weeks prior to bringing her home to alleviate the waiting time on my watch. But all was well for just 6 weeks. One day, Pippa limped unexpectedly and went lame on her back leg and was in sharp pain and distress. it was a Sunday. Always happens. So off to the emergency vet. X-rays, pain meds and a diagnosis: broken ankle needing emergency orthopedic surgery. Cost $6000. I called Healthy Paws to verify my coverage, which they did. With little financial worry, I could focus on Pippa and her surgery and treatment plan. I received my invoices and sent them over to Healthy Paws along with my pups limited vet records. Less than a week later the claim was settled and less than two weeks later, the correct reimbursement is in my hand. And my Pippa is still in her cast because the whole process start to finish at Healthy Paws took less than 2 weeks. The only major drawbacks that I find to the coverage is no coverage for office visits. No 90/10 plan coverage. No optional wellness plan.
But to their credit they offer unlimited lifetime benefits. That’s what drew me to choose Healthy Paws. A catastrophic illness like cancer or kidney disease will eat up a $10k annual maximum in as little as 30 days. I know. I was there. So, when I looked around this was a priority. And with rates at 1/2 of the competition, $30 monthly, I can afford to pay for several office visits per year out of pocket if necessary. So, for me Healthy Paws was the way to go!
