After owning many large breed dogs (mostly Rottweilers) and paying out thousands of dollars for knee and hip surgeries, my vet finally suggested it might be worth my while to get health insurance for my dogs. I tried out a couple of different insurances - which I wasn't impressed with AT ALL - before I finally discovered Healthy Paws. I now have two of my dogs on Healthy Paws insurance; Milton my Bullmastiff and Cooper my rescue German Shepherd. It is by far the best puppy insurance on the market. Like your own personal health insurance, you have choices to what you want your deductible to be. It covers far more than the majority of the competitor dog insurances. It is simple to use. The complete Claim process from filing to payout of claim is impressively quick and smooth. They also follow up on your animal to check in on how they're doing - which I appreciate. When your pups are sick, you need support - you get that from Healthy Paws - they care. I recommend them to all my friends and family members. I am a huge animal lover, and my dogs are my family. I would recommend Healthy Paws without reservation. I do not use my insurance much, feeling that owning a pet you have a responsibility to provide for them when you own one...................However, a serious eye injury occurred. Bills were will into the 5K range. Healthy Paws stepped up to the plate and helped me, when otherwise I don't know if I could have afforded to care for my pet. I adopted a 5 year old retired racing greyhound who had a repaired broken leg. Reading some other reviews, I was concerned about preexisting conditions but I found Healthy Paws very honest and straightforward about what would be considered a preexisting condition. I decided to go ahead with the policy and I never regretted that decision. For the first few years, my dog luckily remained healthy and I didn’t have to submit any claims. His rate increased every year but I understood that as he got older, there was an increased chance that I would need to submit claims. This past year I got the worst news ever- my baby was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. This is a quick death sentence for many pups. His vet gave him maybe 2 months left. Because we had Healthy Paws, I was able to aggressively fight this disease using the latest technology. There would be no way I would have been able to afford all of his tests and treatments without them (over $10,000). They covered amputation, chemotherapy, countless X-rays, nuclear scan, acupuncture, daily medications, and ultrasounds. They gave me an extra year with my baby and I am forever grateful to them.
