Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

On 3/3/2021 our little 3 year old mini dachshund had 4 small idiopathic clustered seizures that left him very disoriented. Scared us to death. He spent the night in the vet hospital recovering; we paid the bill ($1200) before taking him home on 3/4/2021. By 3/5 or 3/6, Healthy Paws completed the claim with a 90% reimbursement and a $100 deductible, according to my plan. My little dog is sleeping comfortably next to my son on the couch and I am so so so glad that we have Healthy Paws insurance! Wonderful company including caring, efficient, claims staff. Thanks HPs!

I cannot say enough good things about healthy paws. Without this insurance I wouldn’t have been able to afford to treat my dog’s pneumonia and I would have had to put her down or let her die. In the past month Betsy’s treatment has included emergency room visits, hospital stays, oxygen chamber , meds, X-rays , and blood work . The cost to date is close to $10,000 and still counting. I charge the visit and file the claim immediately. I have been receiving claim payments deposited directly into my bank account within 2-3 days of filing the claim. The coverage amount is unlimited. The things that are not covered are the office visits/consult and the typical well care like vaccines and prevention. That is small concession to make to have all the other benefits. I had another Shihtzu prior to Betsy who had pet insurance from another company that started with a “V” . They always seemed to find a reason not to pay a claim. I urge anyone with a pet to consider this company. I have recommended them to many of my friends who have pets and they have been happy with them as well.

Make sure you search Healthy Paws on the Better Business Bureau prior to making any decision to sign on. The responses to customer complaints feel dismissive and sarcastic. The Healthy Paws Team" Remember, the customers complaining are taking valuable time out of their busy lives and feel compelled to write the BBB to file a complaint. Will this be you after a few years? When I started with them it was fine, the increases were fair but recent years it skyrocketed. It also became a struggle to get compensation, faced with impossible demands for documentation that thy claimed not to have from literally years ago. To me the skyrocketing yearly increases can easily cover the BBB fees in order to forgive and increase their ratings ... many Healthy Paws answers appear to be cookie cutter answers referring to their FAQ. If you are currently a customer and you felt that you were wronged by this company (or any company for that matter), or their reps made it extremely difficult to honor a legitimate insurance claim, I urge you to document and send your findings to your state's Attorney General office to investigate what they are doing. Its a hassle, but essential to provide documentation to keep this and others in this business honest.

This insurance has been a god send! My dog has reoccurring uti’s,emergency surgeries and now has been diagnosed with cushings disease. I have 80% reimbursement and I haven’t had 1 issue. And starting claims are super easy.

Healthy Paws is always prompt, thorough and helpful. Filing a claim is quick and easy. Staff is very helpful in assisting with questions and checking in on our pets progress. There are several options for coverages and deductibles that help to make purchasing insurance satisfying. Claim payments are quick and fair.
