Terrible and Slow. They don’t actually explain things correctly.

I was frustrated with the lack of explanation as to what a physical exam entails prior to enrollment. You should really specify that the pet needs to have a “physical” and not just an exam... I don’t thought a wellness exam would be enough and in turn it was not. And I was already enrolled and paid two months and no one explained this to me. I was sent emails in regards to submitting “all records” which I had indeed done... and no one ever reached out to say I still needed a “physical.” Not very good communication and also very slow going company. I won’t be back.

Healthy Paw Insurance

We have had healthy paw since our english lab turned 1 (Percy is 3 and half now). We have been quite happy with the small incidentally claims until recently, Percy somehow ended up having a bad ear infection and infection caused his ear drum to rupture. We had no idea the medical bills would actually go into the thousands so fast and we couldn't be thankful enough that we have healthy paw's protection. To top it off, filing claims is literally snapping a picture and we never had to wait for more than 48 hrs for reimbursement shown up as direct deposit. Every step along the way, there is email notification and clear explanation. Percy is our first dog, to say we were a little skeptical in terms of getting medical insurance for a dog would not be an overstatement at the beginning, but you guessed it, we certainly are not regretting anything now. When vet offered choices of antibiotics in terms of cheaper one versus more expensive ones, cheaper ones being with side effect, taking twice a day vs expensive ones with hardly any side effect and only once a day, we were able to choose the latter for him because of healthy paw. There are many cheaper version of the insurance plans which we did comparison shopping at the beginning, healthy paw will be our only one and final choice for years to come.

Used to be great. Now... stay away!

For the first few years, HealthPaws was amazing. They had reasonable rates and paid every claim we submitted. In the last year, that all changed. It started with a 36% rate hike that came overnight. When I questioned that I was told that it was a one time thing because they had had so many large claims and were also calculating premiums differently now (taking dog's age into account). I was also told that I shouldn't expect another similar rate hike. Then I submitted a claim that they wrongfully denied. It took me talking to 3 different people over multiple weeks to get that resolved, and then they didn't pay for another month. The final straw was when they hiked my rates another 31% AFTER TELLING ME THAT WOULD NOT HAPPEN! When I contacted them about it they gave me the exact same party line that they gave last year and refused to answer many of the questions I asked nor to give any assurance they wouldn't just keep hiking my rates year after year. If you're looking for a reliable insurer, I strongly urge you to look at some of their competitors. Otherwise you may find youself paying hundreds more per year than you thought you were signing up for.

Super fast claims processing and outstanding service

I have had a Healthy Paws policy for my 11 year-old Beagle for 5+ years now. Last month, within the span of a couple of hours, Yodee went from seeming perfectly fine to needing immediate surgery. The emotions that go thru you when having to make decisions about these things is traumatic. But knowing that he had a Healthy Paws policy in place--and especially with the knowledge of how great they are with taking care of claims--absolutely brought reassurance and peace of mind. I can't even imagine how difficult the experience would have been without them. The claim was processed and paid before my credit card payment was due. He is fully recovered now, and doing great. I can't thank them enough. One of the best investments I have ever made.

Doggie surgery

My dog had ACL surgery. It was an unexpected cost at the holidays and during the pandemic when finances are tight. Luckily, I have Healthy Paws insurance. I sent in my claim by taking a photo and uploading it, easy process. The staff are very friendly and caring. They followed up after my claim to check on my dog. Thank you Healthy Paws.
