Horrible experience with Healthy Paws

Horrible experience with Healthy Paws. As a patron who was using healthy paws for my smaller dog and Embrace for my larger dogs, I can not even compare the difference. I had Healthy Paws insurance for over 2 years, never needed to actually use the insurance. When I finally needed to place a claim it was nothing but a nightmare. Healthy Paws took two weeks to review and then wrongfully deny the claim and then took 4 more weeks to "review" the claim to only uncover that they were mistaken. Then charged me extra because they said I took too long to get my dogs surgery done after they made me wait 6 weeks to get her claim approved. I cancelled my membership and will be switching this dog to embrace as well. Who approves valid claims, has respectful customer service and doesn't make comments such as "well, you have a lot of notes on your account to go through". Spend your money elsewhere.

They Raise Their Rates over 20% per Year

• I purchased a policy the day that I brought home my puppy and had a monthly premium of $35/mo. • Year 2, they send me an email that my rate for the next year will now be $57/mo • Year 3, they raised my rate to $73/mo. My dog has allergies now, so if I switch insurance, my dog will not be covered for any pre-existing conditions, even though I have had insurance since day 1. They never mentioned that rates can go up over 20-60%% per year when I signed up - seems like something that would have been important to know, except when it is not good for their business. Protect yourself and your pup from their predatory practice and choose another provider and make sure to ask rate increase questions

Healthy Paws Pet Insurance is the best!

I believe Healthy Paws is the best pet health insurance there is. One thing I absolutely love is their app that makes it beyond easy to submit a claim. Just take a photo of your bill, push send and you're done. It really doesn't get any easier. And, unlike the previous health insurance company we had, they base their reimbursement on what your vet actually charges. Our previous company based reimbursement on what they felt was customary and fair by comparing rates in other states, as though I was supposed to find those vets and travel a bit. When researching pet health companies, you may want to ask them what, exactly, constitutes a pre-existing condition. We found out the hard way when our previous company stopped paying for cancer treatments for our dog because the policy renewed in the middle of treatment. Anything connected to her cancer was now considered pre-existing. Healthy Paws doesn't work that way. We have had some unexpected expenses with our dogs, as do many people. The peace of mind Healthy Paws offers is something I am not willing to give up. They are so easy to work with, their reimbursements are fast and fair, and my dogs will always have them to watch their backs. I never want to be in the position of having to choose between excellent care for my best friends and my bank account. I'm truly grateful to Healthy Paws.

Wish I could give them a 20!

Healthy Paws is truly an unbeatable health insurance plan for your furry family members. Before Healthy Paws, my dogs had a plan from another company. After filling out explicit and time-consuming forms for each occurrence and waiting weeks, the reimbursement would finally come. But, it wasn't a reimbursement based on what my vet actually charged. It was a reimbursement based on what some unknown vets in another state would have, perhaps, charged. And, when one of my beloved girls got cancer? They stopped paying mid treatment because the policy renewed and that pushed her diagnosis into the pre-existing condition phase. They never paid another penny on her treatments or anything related to them. We finished the treatments out of pocket and had her for another thankful year. When I called Healthy Paws, I had a few more questions than I asked the first company. The representative was wonderful, knowledgeable and helpful. We chose them for our new dogs and I have never entertained the thought of changing companies. They base their reimbursement on exactly what my vet charges. And submitting a claim couldn't possibly be easier. With their app, you simply take a photo of the bill and press send. That's it. Not one form to fill out, and reimbursement is incredibly fast. Some health insurance companies will pay a certain amount for office calls and/or routine care. Healthy Paws does not (at least not in our plan). But, in the end, when we have had an unexpected expense (surgeries, diagnostics, expensive medications, emergency care ... ), the bottom financial line has been so much better. The peace of mind, alone, is worth more than I can say. The dogs we have today, and the ones to come, will always have Healthy Paws. I simply couldn't be happier with this company.
