Disappointed

The cost increases significantly every year. Our current monthly cost is $60 for a 6 year old dog with no pre-existing conditions and no history of illness. I'm so disappointed in how the customer service is handled. We will be cancelling once we identify a new insurer.

Feel really betrayed

I adopted by Doberman when he was 3 1/2 years old. I purchased pet insurance soon after, because I wanted to know if something catastrophic happened I would be able to save him. My boy goes to the vet for routine visits, if he is sick or injured. We have never needed to file a claim. I just received my renewal notice for my 6th year with Healthy Paws and an increase from $157 to $223 a month. Last renewal it was $119 to $157. I had done my research and compared everything when I chose to go with them. Trusting by going with them when he was young, would keep my premium lower. After all, age was not mentioned as a factor for rate increases just the initial rate. Looking at my renewal, it seems my premium increase was due to an ANNIVERSARY ADJUSTMENT. Ironically most insurance carriers have longevity or loyalty discounts. So, I guess the increases are not due to my dog being a year older, but his being insured with Healthy Paws for another full year.

Thank you Healthy Paws!

We had to bring Corey to the ER for a Urethral Prolapse. We woke up in the middle of the night with blood all over the bed and our puppy! This is the first pet we've ever had insurance on and I'm SO thankful we had it! When I contacted Healthy Paws to ask about a direct pay to the vet's office they told me what they needed to make it happen. I submitted the records needed and the estimate of the bill and they took it from there. They contacted the vet's office and took care of everything for us, making the financial part of Corey's surgery a breeze! I did receive notice prior to Corey's surgery that our rates were going up in 60 days but only by $10/month. TOTALLY worth it knowing that our puppy will have the care he needs. Thank you Healthy Paws!

Great service at a great cost

Not bad but not good either. With all their great features, they fail to mention the big downside... price increases. I had healthy paws for four years and was very happy with the service and features. But the price increases were NUTS. I started with a policy for one dog and one cat, both healthy and young. Was paying about $130 per month total. Within four years, that went to $290 per month with no claims. The average increase was $40 a year. After I seen this I started wondering, how long are they going to do this? ? Based on the increases, within a few years, pet insurance will cost more than my own health insurance. Maybe even more than my mortgage after 5 years. Healthy Paws is a lot like Verizon. You get the best service, but at a cost only the rich can afford.

Healthy Paws - best policy for dog owners!

I would highly recommend Healthy Paws to any pet owner. It is a crystal clear policy where you know what is covered and not. Most recently, my pup Miles was diagnosed with a malignant mast cell tumor on his left hind leg. As you can imagine there was cytology, ultrasounds, meds...and then an amputation to ensure a best outcome for his future. From filing claims to providing medical records to status updates, Healthy Paws provided top-notch customer service - and beyond. Tyson + Wagner inquired about Miles and asked how he was doing. As a customer of more than 5 years, I can say that it's a great company who cares about your furry loved ones.
