Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

A little more than three years ago, when I got my Australian Cattle Dog, I was skeptical of the need for pet insurance. Cattle Dogs are generally healthy in the long term, my thought. I got Mojave to be a trail dog, as I hike approximately 120 miles a month. After thinking it through, I realized that given the miles Mojave would be covering, the odds of an orthopedic or paw injury was above average. So I decided to get Healthy Paws Insurance. For the first 3 years, we had no issues. I thought of my pet insurance as I do of my car insurance... A 'necessary evil'. No offense Healthy Paws! But in April of this year, Mojave injured a rear paw. It has resulted in Veterinary care to this day. (he is well on the mend now) Thank goodness for my Healthy Paws insurance! His treatments were very costly, and Healthy Paws was there for me. Not only that, filing a claim and getting reimbursed, couldn't be easier. If you have, or are about to get a pup, get insurance! You never know when something will happen, You'll be bummed out if you need it but don't have it. Thank you Healthy Paws!!!

I have had Healthy Paws insurance for both of my dogs for several months. One of my dogs began showing symptoms of gastric illness. I immediately took her to the vet and she began diagnostic testing. I submitted my first claim and it took about 30 days for reimbursement, since it was the first claim and my vet exists in hard copy. Once HP received the records, they paid the claim, minus my deductible and copay, within a few days. After the first claim, HP paid each subsequent claim within a few hours after submittal. They even emailed me 10 days after the last visit to check on my girl. Amazing! Based on the excellent customer service and trust they built, I decided to adopt two more dogs, knowing that the unexpected costs of illness and accidents will be covered after I enroll them. One other note: I compared many different plans before selecting HP. It offered the most benefits for the most competitive price.

I compared at least 20 pet insurance plans and ended up enrolling our girls with HP. Within months of enrollment, one of my girls began experiencing gastric symptoms. I submitted my first claim and although it took 30 days to get the first claim paid, all subsequent claims were paid in a matter of hours. After my most recent submission, HP emailed me to see how she was doing. Amazing customer service! Based on the trust build by HP, I adopted two more girls, knowing that I don’t have to worry about unexpected costs related to illness or accidents.

Healthy Paws processed our claim in a timely manner and kept us up to date regarding the status of our claim. We were so grateful to have this protection when our dog needed emergency surgery. Having insurance from Healthy Paws made what could have been a financial calamity something financially manageable and we were able to focus on the medical needs of our pet rather than costs.

Words cannot express how thankful I am to Healthy Paws during a very stressful and scary time. My beloved French Bulldog all of a sudden started shaking and her back legs were super wobbly and unstable. I rushed her to the emergency vet hospital where she was examined with suspected IVDD. They kept her over night for medical hospitalization. The stay itself was over $1300. I am so grateful that I have such great pet insurance in situations like these. Not only did they cover majority of the cost, and they sent me an email to check up on my Frenchie to make sure she is doing well. I can't say enough great things about Healthy Paws. Truly a life saver!
