Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

I purchased healthy paws insurance when my dog was a puppy or 11 years ago. They have always been a pleasure to deal with and always settle claims immediately. He’s been a very healthy dog and I’ve had relatively few costs but this week he had a tumor removed from his liver so I was concerned that I might receive some pushback about my claim. I live in New York City and it was a pretty complicated surgery and it was expensive yet four days later healthy pause process the claim without a question. I recommend them to everybody I talk to and if I have another dog one of these days I wouldn’t think twice about purchasing insurance from them

I am very happy with Healthpaws pet insurance. I have had it for all my dogs for years. Easy to file a claim on line and prompt reimbursement. If you need to contact a person there is someone available that can answer your questions.

This was the first time in 5 years I needed to make a claim, they were wonderful. Our puppy got sick on a weekend and we had to use an emergency pet hospital, I couldn’t believe the cost. When I turned in my receipts of almost $5000 Healthy Paws gave me no issues and sent a check within days. I can’t say enough good about them and the great service, I would recommend them to anyone,

Excellent customer service and prompt claims processing

I adopted a puppy about 8 months ago. She’s been extra high maintenance (parasites, heart surgery, several instances of diarrhea). I’ve been grateful for the pet insurance because we’ve already spent thousands of dollars on vet care for this dog. Unfortunately, the process to get reimbursement from healthy paws is frustrating. One minor irritation: you can only take pictures of the invoice to submit a claim on the app. You cannot attached documents or pictures. You have to use the camera to take a picture of a paper invoice. None of my vets use paper invoices; they are all electronic so it would be much more convenient if the app had the capability to upload photos or docs. My main problem with the process, though, is that they make little to no efforts to let you know that your claim is not being processed because they’re missing something. The result of this is that I’ve waited for 10 business days before reaching out to customer service, sometimes several times by email and phone, only to find out that my claim wasn’t being processed. Thus it takes several weeks to get reimbursed. Also, they do not offer pre-authorization so if you are going in for an expensive procedure (heart surgery) and want to be absolutely sure of your terms of coverage, good luck.
