Healthy Paws - Highly Recommend

Fast, reliable, and available on the phone for questions. Our dog has had to deal with some complicated health issues and Healthy Paws has delivered on the quality they advertise the whole way through. Good (and unusual!) feeling when you don't have to worry about whether insurance will support you - Healthy Paws has been great. Highly recommend.

Absolute piece of mind !

Not quite 2 months ago Baxter had a urinary obstruction. It is considered a medical emergency. Having lost a feline fur baby 2 years ago from this I was a wreck! After all was said and done with Baxter's care, I submitted the vet notes of the incident to Healthy Paws. The app was simple to use, and when I had a question the staff was so supportive and understanding! They are also excellent at communicating the process as well, I had follow up emails and the like. Within 5 days of my claim, everything was completed and I had my money 2 days later! So thankful for Healthy Paws!!!!!

Piece of mind for Baxter

At 4am, when we awoke to feed our feline fur babies, I noticed our Baxter seemed agitated, would not eat his breakfast, and began to try to pee everywhere. Problem was, no pee was coming out. I immediately knew what was wrong...urinary obstruction. This condition is considered a medical emergency and having lost one of my babies to this 2 years ago time was not on my side. I rushed him to an ER vet but to my horror they turned me away (that's another review) so I had to head to my regular vet, even though they did not open until 7am. To make a long story short, I waited a short period of time until they opened. Met the one staff member at the front door, told her what was happening and she immediately got one of the Dr's. In less then 10 minutes, Baxter was successfully catheterized and draining urine. Baxter needed more care such as a bladder xray and a cardiac test as he had an arrythmia of unknown origin. Needless to say I was a wreck from all of this and when Baxter was stable and the testing was done I asked for the medical notes and prepared to send everything to healthy paws insurance. Was I concerned? No. I had a claim for Baxter many years before this incident and all went well. But, this situation was more involved with more paperwork and alot was done for him. Healthy Paws made it so easy!!!! On the app, take pictures of your paperwork. Have alot of pages?? No problem, just keep sending them. The staff can follow the pages and make sense of the information sent. They send you an email confirming they received the paperwork, and how the process is going. In less than 5 days, my claim was covered with the explanation of benefits etc. and my money was already en route! And if there is an issue, just call them. They understand pet parents in distress and are very reassuring and helpful. I can say having Healthy Paws insurance for Baxter was one of the best decisions I've made!!

Half the cost of the major competitor for the same level of coverage

I work for the largest corporate veterinary hospital in the US and as a perk, they subsidize the cost of Trupanion for four pets. Well, as most others in the animal industry know, sometimes you own more than four... I looked at purchasing Trupanion for my new Great Dane puppy as they had been great with the coverage and claims for my other pets and realized the monthly premium was over $160 for my chosen options (90% reimbursement with a $500 deductible.) I remembered a coworker recommending HealthyPaws to our clients and hearing great reviews. I was quoted a monthly premium of $82 for the same $500 deductible and 90% reimbursement plan. Fast forward a year and my puppy suffers a partial CCL tear in his left knee during a competitive field trial. HeathlyPaws has covered his initial diagnostics (radiographs, sports medicine evaluation, surgical evaluation) ($950), 16 weeks of twice weekly cold laser and underwater treadmill/hydrotherapy($3200), and his eventual TPLO surgery ($6900). He will likely require a few more months of rehab and physical therapy to fully recover and I am confident in the care he will receive knowing we are backed by HealthyPaws and not burdened by such a significant financial impact.
