Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

My dog recently underwent TPLO surgery (Aug 2022), which as anyone who has gone through this, can be quite costly. I am thankful that Healthy Paws processed my claim exactly as stated in the policy, and without any stress. These situations with our fur-babies are stressful enough, as it is. My claim was processed efficiently, and I couldn’t be more pleased with Healthy Paws. I have recommended them for pet insurance throughout the years, as they are responsive, and hassle-free.

I owned a Healthy Paws policy for several years and rarely ever got a dime back from them. There are absolutely better choices out there. Their deductibles are ridiculous and they do not cover wellness at all. They also raise premiums regularly. I would not recommend Healthy Paws to anyone.

Healthy Paws’ pet insurance is a complete scam. I paid $72/month for 5 YEARS and they denied every single claim I put in on some type of technicality. Literally I spent over $4,000 on premiums, and the first time I got a check, it was for a $101.90 bill, but I had a $100 deductible… so they mailed me a check for $1.90. Infuriating. Then when I eventually calmed down and tried to deposit it, apparently they void checks after 90 days, so my bank hit me with a $12 unpaid check fee. This company is the worst, premiums are a scam – just put your monthly $70 in a savings account for your pet and pay for stuff out of that.

We were with another pet insurance company that took three months to pay out one claim and fought us on it at every opportunity, so I switched to HealthyPaws. LIFESAVERS. Have paid out multiple claims fast (some completed in a single business day), never fought us, stuck to the policy, and have really quick and pleasant customer service. I will probably never use another pet insurance company again. Also pretty reasonably priced, since I have six animals!

Had this insurance for seven years. My last experience was a big disappointment that I cannot recommend this company. My beloved golden doodle became severely sick and was taken to an animal emergency room. Unfortunately they were not able to save her. After I sent in the bill nothing was covered. I would imagine the exam cost and lab work in the ER should be covered right? Nope. I’m too heart broken to make phone calls to fight for it. One the reviewer was spot on when he said that they would try to always deny your claims. Update: after this was posted, I did make a phone call to cancel my policy since my email to info at healthypaws was unanswered. The very nice lady from customer support did explain that the zero coverage was a result of a duplicate claim and that I should be receiving some reimbursement.
