Awful & unethical company

This is a terrible, horribly unethical company. They will accept your pet for pet insurance, you will diligently pay your dues, and once you submit a claim- suddenly they will require additional historical information from your previous vets, that may or may not respond with the appropriate Drs notes, and your claim will then be denied. So, in my case, I have spent upwards of $1800 over two years - for nothing. I highly encourage those to look elsewhere for pet insurance, so you are not stuck in my situation.

Excellent

I have healthy paws for both my dog and cat. I had to use it for both this last month. It’s been very fast and easy. I upload the receipt to the app, tell my vet to send them the chart and just a week or so later I have the check in the mail!

Won't cover anything that implies wellness

I've been a Healthy Paws customer for many years. Customer service is good and claims process is easy. Unfortunately they will not cover anything that might be implied to be for your dog's wellness or preventative care. It makes no sense; I assume that they would rather cover expensive life-threatening issues than cover preventative treatments. I advise people to choose a different company.

Good Pet Insurance from HealthyPaws

Thanks to Healthy Paws for a fast and easy claims process. This is my first experience with pet health insurance. My dog injured himself with a stick 12 days ago. I filed a claim within 48 hours; all I had to do was upload a receipt and vet record. I got a fast acknowledgment, and an EOB within a week, and a check arrived today! It was for $1000 out of $1700. I'm not sure why there wasn't more complete coverage -- the EOB said something about not covering an exam, which is kinda weird, since the ER vet had to do an exam to determine the nature of the injury --but I'll take what I can get.

Healthy Paws was 10/10 in my book. Very fast and efficient with my claim and the customer service was very friendly. Policy covered majority of my invoice without any problems. Very happy and satisfied!

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
