My dog was diagnosed with a large mass attached to his kidney. There was a high probability that it was cancer but, even if it wasn't, the danger to him was grave if the mass burst, as it would fill his abdomen with blood. We opted to do surgery right away which would include removing the kidney. The estimate for this surgery was very high. As such, I decided to look back for all the vet bills that I hadn't filed an insurance claim for, during the current policy period, and frantically started sending them in just hoping they would cover enough to satisfy our deductible. There were 20 submissions, and the speed at which they reviewed, approved, or denied them, was record time! They approved many and denied very little. Not only did we meet our deductible, we blew by it, and they direct deposited funds to my bank account within a few days. I was so happy and very surprised! Given my experience with a different pet insurance company years ago, I anticipated much less. Needless to say, I was impressed, but not half as much as I would be. After my dog's surgery, I submitted the very large claim immediately. It was long and detailed, as he'd spent 3 nights and 4 days in the hospital. I was hoping that, whatever Healthy Paws was going to cover, they would review the claim quickly enough to put money in my account before the credit card bill arrived. I was shocked when I received notice in only 3 days that they had completed the claim and deposited the funds into my account. Not only did they do it in lightning speed, but they covered every single item on the claim. Now I was extremely impressed! I didn't think Healthy Paws could do anything more to confirm what a great company they are, but then came a personal email asking how my dog's recovery was going. They asked me to write them back and share with them his progress. That was a really nice touch. Healthy Paws Pet Insurance is hands down the best, and I highly recommend them. They have treated me fairly, honestly, and compassionately. And...btw...the mass turned out to be benign, and Heathy Paws Celebrated that great news with me, too.
Healthy Paws is GREAT. I was skeptical about pet policies, expecting some of the same issues that exist with human insurance, but nothing could be further from the truth. They have great customer service and lightning fast claim processing made simple with the ability to upload invoices. I use direct deposit reimbursement and have had my claims processed in less than 48 hours. I only wish I'd known about Healthy Paws for my older dog.
Healthy Paws has been fabulous to work with. Lightning fast processing claim processing and great customer service. I only wish I'd known about Healthy Paws for my other pets. I can't recommend them enough.

Adjustable rate insurance priced me out
I insured my two cats in 2017 at $61.64. In the life of my policy, I filed 1 claim and was paid out when one cat was put down in 2019. The claim process was quick and easy, and the payout was within 2 weeks. I have not tested this process since then. My other cat has a history of allergies that was never covered and takes prescription cat food for kidney stones. My issue is with annual price increases. The premium for my remaing cat has increased from $33.76 in 2017 to $64.35 in 2020, $96.52 in 2021 and $362.23 in 2022. She is a bengal and 16 years old but more than tripling the premium has forced me to cancel the policy. I have since adopted other pets and gone with other insurance companies that were referred by my veterinarian and other pet owners with years of experience with other insurers and older pets.

Our health insurance saved our dog and our finances
Our happy, 14 mos old puppy suddenly became depressed, despondent, stopped eating, stopped drinking, would just lie on the floor with a fever staring at us. It took almost 4 weeks working with Brookfield Pet Hospital and ACA to finish mutiple xrays, ultrasounds, varied medical tests, fecal tests, and much more. Finally the diagnosis was revealed: my fully vaccinated pup got Bordetella at doggy day camp right after his 6 month return. And that disease caused double pneumonia, kennel cough, vomiting of blood and vile, and high fever, no to mention 10% loss of his body weight. Healthy Paws insurance was by our side through the whole ordeal and was sending reimbursements with in two weeks of invoice submission, with no barrage of questions. They followed my policy to the tee: exclude office visit, ordinary vaccinations, deduct my $250 deductible, and then paid the rest. Of my $6,000 in bills, I received back more than $5000. I felt so lucky! I was paid more than I had paid in insurance premiums. Get yourself some peace of mind and insure your puppy with Healthy Paws.
