You never expect your dog or anyone in your family to get hurt. When our puppy Olive broke her leg we were totally caught off guard, Not only emotionally but financially. Healthy Paws was there from beginning to end. If it weren't for them we would be in some debt. For just $30 or so dollars a month they covered a substantial part of the bills. Thank you so much for being there for us! Olive is happy and healthy. :):):)

Understand the insurance
I have Healthy Paws for 3 of my dogs. I left another insurance because when my dog turned 10 they increased the premium by 60%! I called the State Attorney General. All pet insurance is like human insurance and must be reviewed. You can file a formal complaint to your State Attorney General.
Healthy Paws has denied my claim a few times. When I call and talk to someone there and explain my claim they have reversed the denial.

Healthy Paws = great investment
My baby, Coco had to have emergency surgery to remove a foreign object from her stomach...during the surgery, the surgeon discovered a major artery not filtering through the liver correctly and they needed to put a shunt in. The surgeon said she likely would have started going through liver failure at some point and they would not have known this was going on only by opening her up to remove the foreign object. I never had to second guess what they were doing for Coco because I knew she was protected by Healthy Paws. I did consistently check that vet records were received because there were 3 different vets due to various moves I've made. But every time I called, every representative I spoke to was helpful and very courteous and professional. Most even stopped and asked how Coco was doing. Once all records were received, they opened and completed my claim within 2 days. And they covered everything I expected them to at 90%. What would have cost $3600 out of pocket only ended up costing $900. And my baby is recovering very well. Healthy Paws was definitely the best choice and a great investment!

Great insurance, and great service
I insured my dog with Healthy Paws as soon as I adopted him 1 year ago. He was a 6 year old beagle mix that seemed very healthy, but in the last year he went through several health issues, including a persistent limp, a lipoma, a fibroma, a smal tumor in his eyelid and a fractured tooth. Healthy Paws paid for 90% of all the needed treatment, including surgery, x-rays and chiropractor treatment. And they paid promptly and with great customer service. I couldn't be more pleased with this company.

Very happy with this service, definitely recommend
I have an elder dog, who was recently diagnosed with mammary gland tumor, which had to be taken out quickly, which meant surgery. It was very stressful for all of us, and we were so glad that we had insurance for our dog, who is a member of the family. The insurance paid for most of the expenses, except for the doctor's visit, and minus the deductible. They process claims from 7-10 days, once the claim is received (it actually took about 7 days for us). I was very impressed with them, since they did what they promised.
It does not cover pre-existing conditions, but dogs and cats may get sick from something which they did not have previously, and it is really great to have it, just in case. This way you do not have to postpone any treatment, if it's needed. I have used other pet insurances in the past, and prefer this one, just because, they do not dictate, how much each treatment should be, they cover the percentage that you choose. It's great for an older dog or a cat (up to 13?, I think).
