Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

I own an English Retriever. At the age of 10 months she ingested a highly toxic mushroom, Death Cap. In the first 24h post ingestion, if the stomach is pumped, the animal has a great chance of survival, however there are not visible symptoms during this time. My dog was in critical condition at 48h but it took my vet another 24h to determine that she has been poisoned. I rushed her to Sage hospital in San Mateo where she received around the clock care (08-08-2014 to 08-13-2014). After 5 days and over $7,000 in medical bills Sam has recovered and released from the hospital. My medical bills were faxed the next day from both my primary care vet's office as well as from Sage hospital. These claims were processed within one week and in an additional 3 more days they were completed. I was granted 90% reimbursement as stated on the policy. There was no catch, no fine prints, no delays. I was advised by many to not get a Pet insurance because it is a waste of money. What can I say, other than I am delighted that I didn't follow their advise.

Healthy paws have the worst customer service! I've been trying to get my vet bills claimed for over 2 months now and still trying because they are unable to get my dogs medical history. I've faxed it over twice but they said it was unclear so then I emailed it but they didn't receive it. Next I personally mailed it but they said it would take 2 week to receive it so 2 weeks later they emailed me saying they still haven't received it yet. One of the girl whom I spoke to, Star, hung up the phone on me which doesn't help the situation. I'm still fighting for my claims! Worst insurance company. This is my first insurance company for my dog and the worst experience ever! Don't use them !

If you own a French Bulldog, you know that pet insurance is a must. I recently had to make my first claim with Healthy Paws, and the process was completely stress-free. They were extremely friendly and, of course, helpful. Something you sadly don't get over the phone much these days. Once the claim went through, the check came to me very quickly. I personally love their policies - For the price, you really get a lot of bang for your buck. Taking your pup to the vet, especially in emergency situations, can be a stressful and often emotional experience and the last thing you want to do is worry about costs as you want to do what's best for your pet. Having Healthy Paws helps put my mind at ease and gives me one less thing to worry about. I highly recommend them!

My pet had to have surgery for a growth in his thigh. My claim was processed quickly and what a great company. They followed up with a personal inquiry asking how my pet was doing. Great Company Great Employees.
