Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

Rebel has been insured by Healthy Paws since he was 5 years old. He had some neck and back issues last year and they covered chiropractic appointments for him! Recently, I found a lump in his mouth. It turned out to be cancer. Melanoma. He’s had 3 surgeries and is currently under the continuing care of Cornell Oncology. Thanks to Healthy Paws I can focus on making the best medical decisions for Rebel without having to ask “how much is that?” They have been wonderful throughout this entire ordeal. Submitting claims is super easy, they keep in touch with you while the claim is being processed, the claims are processed quickly and once approved reimbursement comes quickly by check in the mail. They have been kind and always ask about Rebel and how he is doing. They have not disputed a single charge. I couldn’t be more pleased with my choice of Healthy Paws for my pet insurance. I am a practicing small animal veterinarian in Syracuse, NY. I decided to get pet insurance for my pets as there is so much specialty care available now in veterinary medicine, specialized care I don’t have the expertise to provide myself, and I want my pets to receive the best care available when they need it. Thanks to Healthy Paws, I don’t have to worry about the expense of trying to save Rebel’s life and maintain his quality of life for as long as possible. So happy with this company.

I have had two dogs and three TPLO surgeries between them. For my first dog I paid out of pocket and that hurt. So for my second dog, a large mix breed of Lab and Mastiff, I chose to buy Healthy Paws insurance. I did do some looking around and some comparison shopping for insurance and I chose Healthy Paws because I liked their easy enrollment and easy claim process. I have now had two TPLO claims with Healthy Paws and with each one, I was able to use my iPhone to snap a photo and upload my claim via their app. My claim was received and processed incredibly quickly and they paid two thirds of the cost of the surgeries. I couldn’t be happier. Knowing I had such good coverage for my dog took way a lot of the trepidation around such a huge event like knee surgery for a dog.

dHealthy Paw pet insurance is the best hands down! I have had other pet insurance in the past and was very disappointed in the lack of coverage, the excuses they found not to pay the claim, and the "hoops" I had to jump through to get a claim covered at all! Healthy Paws has never disappointed me. I've had their insurance for 4 years now for both of my dogs and they've never failed to cover a claim. As long as you provide the invoice and vet-visit notes for a covered service, they pay the claim no questions asked. One of my dogs recently had to have surgery that cost over $1000.00. With my 90/10 policy through Healthy Paws, they reimbursed me $922.00 and I have my check in 10 days! I would recommend Healthy Paws pet insurance to all pet parents!

Earlier this year our dog Sam started loosing function of his rear legs. We took him to several vets who gave a variety of diagnoses until we were finally referred to a great neurologist. The MRI and other various tests alone added up to almost $4000. Then came the surgery and the various post op procedures. At the end of the day the total charges for his back issues came out to almost $10,000. I am not sure how we would have afforded this without insurance. Most importantly Healthy Paws makes the process so easy and stress free. I have had a different insurance in the past with a different dog and with much much more minor treatments they would continuously bounce back our claims finding any and every excuse to refuse to pay. Every single claim above $200 would take 2 or 3 appeals before they would actually pay out (because their refusals were unfounded), their strategy was to make it difficult in hopes you would give up. Never had any similar issues with Healthy Paws, the claim submission is easy, fast and the payout is exactly as what you would expect based on your plan.

This is by far the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. My puppy is 1 year and 4 months all claims have been denied by this so called caring company. I was laughed at when trying to appeal the denial of the claim which is possible cancer. Now I’m stuck with thousands of dollars in vet bills and to be laughed at by the agency is just outrageous I can not express enough on how disappointed I am with this company!!!!
