So glad I have Embrace

The smartest thing I ever did was to get Embrace insurance. We have used it multiple times and it has more than paid for itself. We were devastated to learn that our beloved Jack Russell had nasal cavity/sinus cancer. We would not have been able to pursue appropriate treatment for her if not for Embrace. They have come through so many times for us that I can only say, "Thank you" for doing what you promised to do.

Wasn't sure about pet insurance...

I had two dogs before we got our puppy. One lived until 10 & the other until 13. One had lots of medical expenses & the other none. There was no limit to what I would spend on my pups but I struggled w/ the idea of pet insurance since my experience was split. I have been hearing some terrible stories lately about accidents/illnesses that happen to pets & I decided to get it with our puppy. I work in insurance so have an appreciation for the peace of mind it gives you but figured I would self insure for pet emergencies. I have heard too many stories recently about pet emergencies so I decided to get it & so far am happy with it. I think Embrace is a reputable company especially since my employer (a property insurance company) of 18 years has an alliance with them. It really does give you peace of mind.

Always So Simple, we love Embrace. Thanks!

Our Dane, Harley, started gagging and heaving like she needed to vomit but didn't. Not the norm for her. I rubbed her throat, tried to get her to drink some water, maybe she had a piece of kibble stuck. Then I decided to feel her stomach. It was rock hard. I was fairly certain her stomach had twisted and it was some type of gastric torsion - known as bloat - that happened. We rushed her to the nearest emergency vet and let them take care of her. She made it through surgery but they had to remove her spleen b/c of the damage due to lack of blood flow. She had to stay at the Emergency vet for 2 1/2 days and they charge by the hour. The best part of this scary experience is that we didn't have to worry about the huge bill. My husband came home that night concerned about the estimate he was given for the surgery, stay, etc. $3400 - $4500. I told him with confidence we have to meet the deductible we chose then we only pay 10% of the remaining covered charges. This isn't the first time I've had to file claims. The process is quick and easy from start to finish. The vet filled out the form and faxed it for me with the invoice/bill, I got an email the next day, and today I got an email that I'd be reimbursed for $3580 of the $4427 I was billed. I'm extremely pleased. We paid the deductible and 10%. It took 8 business days from the day they received the claim. Thanks again, Embrace.

Worst Pet Insurance Ever

After MONTHS of jerking us around, our claim for giardia was finally and with finality, denied. This denial is based on a previous vet visit from 7/2013 where diarrhea was noted by the veterinarian. No fecal workup was done, due to the diagnosis NOT being giardia. On 3/3/2014 she was diagnosed with giardia (got by drinking water at a dog park). The total bill for this was over $1000, and was handled expertly by our vet. They have denied our claim, and completely given us the run-around due to the notation by the previous vet back in July. If she had had giardia for 8 months, undiagnosed and untreated, she would be dead. Despite this logic, they still refuse to pay. I would never recommend this company to anyone, and I will never use them again.

Recommend Embrace Pet Insurance

I have both the Wellness coverage and accident/illness coverage for my 2 dogs. Luckily, we have not had to use the accident or illness policy. The Wellness policy has been easy to use, and they have handled all of my claims quickly and easily.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 10%, 20% or 30% after your deductible, depending on your chosen plan. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Pet must be at least 6 weeks old to enroll. New pets over 14 are eligible for accident-only coverage. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

There is a two-week illness waiting period, which begins on your policies’ effective date. Orthopedic conditions have additional Waiting or exclusion periods that vary by state.

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered if they have not been diagnosed or suspected before the policy becomes active. Main plan covers alternative treatments such as chiropractic, acupuncture and homeopathic when provided by a licensed veterinarian.
