Embrace | Pet Insurance Review

Everyone made fun of me for getting pet insurance, but it paid off for my 1 year old pup, and for my finances. I consider myself obsessed with my two dogs' well-being, but one of them has proven that I need to keep a better eye on him.My Miller ate a piece of fabric, which of course got stuck in his intestines. His surgery totaled about $2,900. I paid out of pocket but received most of the money back from Embrace, thank God! Less than a year later, he darted of out the car after a road trip and took off and was hit by a car. Luckily he wasn't hurt bad, but the medicine and vet visit was reimbursed as well by Embrace. I always recommend to friends and family to get pet insurance, it's invaluable. Embrace has been great for me. Their claim reps are responsive when inquiring if paperwork was received as well as making sure reimbursements are received.

With my previous dog, I had VPI insurance, and was extremely dissatisfied with it. The reimbursements were arbitrary and pitifully small, and the rate increases after she had several claims were enormous. So, I dropped the insurance when she was about 3 years old, and paid out of pocket for her rest of her life. With my current dog, I’ve signed up with Embrace pet insurance, and so far I’m very pleased. The reimbursements are totally predictable (you choose the percent of the bill to be paid, based on your premium level and annual deductible), and they promise not to increase rates based on any claims that you make. That doesn’t mean rates won’t ever increase… they do allow for increases based on age of the dog and inflation… but it does mean that if my dog has 3 claims in a year, her premium rate won’t double or triple at the next renewal, like they did with VPI. So far I’m very happy with Embrace, and anticipate staying with them for the life of my dog.

We have many pets, and put off buying pet insurance for years because it seemed so overwhelming. When it came time to make a decision, the people at Embrace were very patient answering all of our questions. We decided to purchase insurance with Embrace, and have been pleased with their customer service. Recently one of our cats had an emergency situation with a blocked urethra and required several nights stay in the ER as well as daytime care at the vets office. At the same time one of other cats hurt his paw. All of our claims were processed efficiently and timely!

I wish that I hadn't had to file some claims, but that is what the policy is there for.Eventually, all pet owners face a crisis with their animals and sometimes waiting even twelve hours can make a difference in the outcome. I did not hesitate knowing that I had a policy in place with no preexisting conditions. One little glitch, but quickly and easily corrected with one phone call to the company representative. Checks were quickly mailed out and it will help with the overall veterinary bill. I really didn't know if Embrace would out since this was my first claim in five years. I have had poor experiences with another insurance company, but I am so glad that I went with Embrace back in 2010. Please pay attention to the fine print like deductibles and exclusions when looking at different insurance products.
