How to Save Money at Nose to Tail Animal Care - Animal Chiropractic and Holistic, Wylie Texas
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Ruth Lacey-- In November 2023, I saw the sign for Nose To Tail Animal Chiropractic on the door outside North 78 Pet Hospital in Wylie. My 15.5 year old Wheaten Terrier, Lucky, had experienced a few brief bouts of lameness after chasing rabbits, so I jumped at the chance to take him to see Dr. Lacey to make sure his hips and back weren’t causing him any pain. Lucky liked Dr. Lacey a lot. She put him at ease and he was happy to rest on her cushion during his adjustment. She explained everything she was doing and observed. I learned a lot! Dr. Lacey is very observant and thorough in her exams and treatment. Lucky had been slowing down naturally over the last few years since he was getting older, so I was astonished when over the next couple days after his first adjustment, Lucky started running and jumping like a pup again! At 15.5 years old! I sent Dr. Lacey a video and she was excited too! I took Lucky back every 2-3 weeks and he hopped right out of my car and loved going to see her. He became so active and regained so much energy. Occasionally his hip and knee would make a clicking sound, but wouldn’t bother him and he wanted to go on walks, which I attribute to his chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Lacey is a veterinarian who is additionally certified in animal chiropractic care. She doesn’t offer traditional vet services like shots, surgeries and medications anymore, but if you need a vet referral for those things she will help you with that. Dr. Lacey is very tuned in to her furry patients AND to their human parents. She is gentle and caring, and easy to talk to. She is super smart and knowledgeable about nutrition, natural supplements, and animal behaviors as well. We talked about all things Lucky during his appointments. Dr. Lacey really cares about your pet and about you. In January 2024, I reported to Dr. Lacey, that strangely Lucky, who had never given me a problem in all his years, had started eating hardcover book covers off my shelf! I suspected possibly a mineral deficiency and started him on iron and zinc and didn’t have any more incidents. A month later, at Lucky’s appointment, Dr. Lacey alerted me to a firmness in Lucky’s side that she believed could be a tumor. Possibly spleen. I was shocked! She also noticed Lucky’s gums were somewhat pale which can indicate bleeding and/or anemia. She referred me to an integrative vet because I was not considering surgery or anything invasive for my sweet old boy. Turns out Lucky did have a spleen tumor, an 18” Hemangiosarcoma that was filling most of his abdominal cavity. hemangiosarcomas are fed by blood vessels and I knew they are known for being aggressive, quick and deadly tumors. Due to his book eating, it had to have been there a month and grew quickly, causing the anemia. The holistic vet got him on a cocktail of herbs to try to slow the growth and bleeding. Dr. Lacey continued to treat my sweet Lucky palliatively every 2 weeks this Spring. Between Dr. Lacey’s adjustments and care and Lucky’s herbal supplements, Lucky was playing and jumping for THREE months more after Dr. Lacey first had her suspicions about his abdomen. These last couple months, Dr. Lacey took care of me as well as Lucky, listening and making sure we didn’t miss any signs of suffering. Abruptly this weekend, after 3 months, Lucky’s heart couldn’t battle anymore and the cancer won. We are heartbroken of course, but so so thankful for the extra time and warning we got about Lucky’s condition so we could make sure he was living his best life. Dr. Lacey was a blessing to our family, to our Lucky and we will be bringing our other pups in to see her in the near future. These are pics of sweet Lucky while at one of his visits with Dr. Lacey. If you’re on the fence about animal chiropractic, just go see Dr. Lacey once and then you won’t be on the fence anymore.

We have had Mr fatty, our beloved cat, for the past 17 years. He is quite literally a full-fledged member of our family. We've loved and doted on him as much as we possibly can and have done our best over the years to make him as comfortable and spoiled as possible. We had noticed the past 3 years or so that he'd been slowing down, making a little bit more of a mess in the litter box, not quite walking perfectly anymore, not visiting us on the second story of the house, becoming more demanding, not going to the litter box without our help, and even displaying Aggressive behaviors that he had never displayed before such as biting and scratching us. We found Dr Lacey via a simple Google search, and we did some research and found that chiropractic Care for animals is just as effective on them as it is on humans. We contacted Dr Lacey and scheduled the appointment and took our beloved senior cat in to see what she could do for him. After his very first visit, you could tell he was very sore and was not at all happy with us that we took him for a car ride to let a stranger go Hands-On with him. However, and I cannot understand this, Dr Lacey reversed all of the aforementioned negative observations that we had about our cat: After the first visit! Not only has he been walking better and seems to be sleeping a lot more comfortably in a single position, but he has regained a lot of his past kitten-like behavior such as taking odd pathways through coffee tables and jumping up and down on couches. He hasn't made any more mess in the litter box beyond what is needed, and he's been taking himself! The aggression that he was displaying towards us is completely and totally gone. AFTER THE FIRST VISIT. I jokingly told Dr Lacey that I felt as though she turned the clock back on him at least 6 years, but I feel now that it's not a joke, he is absolutely more spry than he was before she worked on him! Do I recommend Dr Lacey? Without a shadow of a doubt, without any hesitation, and without any bias I can tell you, you will not be disappointed in the level of comfort your furry friend will experience after their visit. The contrast in his day-to-day quality of life is night and day and cannot be understated. Logistically speaking : the facilities extremely easy to find, GPS takes you right there. The parking is abundant and in a very safe area. She has online scheduling available, weekend appointments, and even performs follow-up well-being checkups. Highly recommended.

Dr. Ruth is amazing. My dog had this sudden pain on her back and didn’t want to move much. ER pushed for MRI and possible surgery but they did say she most likely had slipped disc. We decided to go with pain management at that time. Her condition was slightly improved but she was not still as active as before. We decided to look for pet chiropractor and found Dr. Ruth. After 2 visits, my dog is back to be a happy active dog. Very happy with her treatments. Can I personally say how good Dr. Ruth is ? My dog never liked car ride but she now wants to go with me when I go to garage …. She wants her adjustments ….
