How to Save Money at North 78 Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This was a great new location for us. Mora was having difficulty eating. They evaluated her, imaged her belly, gave her meds and she's all better! TBTG

North 78 has been keeping my bulldogs healthy. I never have to wait long at all, it's usually just walk in and out with an appointment. Typically only 10-20 minutes or so. I've got a bulldog with bad allergies and they've found a shot that has really helped. My previous vet never offered anything other than to limit his activity. They also give options for medication and keep you informed on what your bill is throughout the visit so that you're not surprised when you get to the counter.

I love North 78 Pet Hospital! Not only are they conveniently close to my home they are professional, knowledgeable and compassionate. Dr. Muhoho is an amazing veterinarian with a kind spirit and deep knowledge of her clientele. I first went to 78 a year ago. In that year’s time they have taken care of my two dogs and now a brand new little kitten. In November, Dr. Muhoho And her staff kindly came to my home to help my 15-year-old Shih Tzu cross the rainbow bridge. She didn’t only take care of my sweet dog but also took care of a sobbing middle-aged woman. I highly recommend North 78 Hospital for any of your pets needs.

Although we did not get the best outcome for my sweet Roxy girl who passed away 11/27/24. I just needed to write a review on this place. Roxy was not eating for a few days and her stomach kept swelling each day, on the 3rd day she could barely walk. We called our Vet who could not get her in which I understand being the day before Thanksgiving. I knew in my heart I couldn't wait any more time. I called North 78 Pet Hospital and they had us an appointment within a couple of hours. They were so sweet and so understanding and very knowledgeable with Roxy. We got the news within an hour that Roxy would need to be put to sleep due to internal bleeding of the stomach. When I tell you I lost it, I LOST IT! The staff of North 78 Hospital were so amazing with such a hard thing I had to face that day alone (my husband couldn't be there because of his job(UPS). They were so patient with me and gave me all the time I needed with my final unexpected minutes I had left with my Roxy girl. They made the process so smooth and diligent. I requested to have her paw inked as my keepsake and I went back a few days later to pick it up and all of the staff gave me the sweetest card and all signed it for me. Reminder, they have never met Roxy nor have they cared for her prior to this day. They even gave me an extra paw inked print because they had remembered me saying I wanted it a tattoo. I am truly forever grateful for this place although my sweet Roxy girl could not be saved. I think I will be moving my other 2 dogs over to this vet. Thank you so much North 78 Pet Hospital for being so thoughtful and sweet during one of the hardest goodbyes I have had.....my Roxy girl. I truly thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. Heather & Roxy
