How to Save Money at Callbeck Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

A fabulous, clean, professional and welcoming clinic. The vets are always caring and gentle with our dogs. I trust their diagnoses and opinions. I’ve known Dr. Snider and Dr Callbeck for years. I can highly recommend them and I have referred family and friends over the years and they all agree! I like the spacious facility and the parking lot. We recently found out our dog had a serious eye condition. There was an excellent referral network to the specialist we needed and the follow up care was exceptional.

We recently put down our beloved senior dog Molly. Her quality of life was not great so we made the impossible decision to have her put to sleep. She was a patient of Callbeck's her whole life. She received the best care possible from the wonderful staff. We always felt welcomed and respected even when the hard decisions had to be made. At the end, we knew there was only one place her forever sleep to take place. Thank you Dr. Callbeck, Dr. Snider and all the amazing staff for years of outstanding care for our sweet Molly.

If I could give 10+ stars for the Doctors’ Exceptional Care, I would. We’ve experienced the Callbeck Pet difference, and we are grateful. After calling 3 other clinics and getting cold vibes, disinterest for helping a guinea pig with a broken leg, and exaggerated prices just to take a look at her then give me a referral to go to Toronto, or been told I have to wait in their waiting room for 6-10 hours, I was super lucky to call Callbeck Clinic and receive a super warm, helpful and empathetic approach and support. Drs. Steven Snider and Melissa Callbeck have been amazing. They’ve been very sympathetic to our situation, and showed us their dedication and that they genuinely care. Everyone always communicated well, including Dr. Snider taking the time to call me, and tell me what was done, and what is necessary to be done for the best interest of my pet Fudge. Thank you so, so much, to the doctors and all their great staff members, from myself and my family.

I am SO incredibly impressed with Dr. Melissa Callbeck and the Team at the Callbeck Animal Hospital! My little guy, (a Lhasa Apso) needed some immediate help today. Even though they were fully booked and did not have room for any new patients, they made time for him. And even more than that, they gave us so much extra special care and attention given it was our first visit to their office. Upon our arrival, Dr. Callbeck came out to meet us, introduced herself, and asked lots of questions about my Dog's history. She went on to do a number of tests to make sure he was okay... and then prescribed some medication and treatments for the pain. My little guy is doing SO much better tonight and is finally resting comfortably! -- Dr. Callbeck was kind, friendly, thorough, and demonstrated a knowledgeable, professional, and caring response far beyond what I would have ever expected!... She made 'us' feel so comfortable... and I am SO VERY GLAD we went to see her today! --- THANK YOU ALL at the Callbeck Animal Hospital for your kindness and help! -- I highly recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone looking for quality service and care.
