After our pup was having trouble breathing, we brought him to this hospital right away. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with such kindness. Little did we know, he was suffering from heart failure and we had to say goodbye. It was the most caring environment, the staff showed great sympathy. I can’t say one bad thing about our experience. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

My family and I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at the facility. Last evening it was time to say goodbye to our loyal boy Rufus after 13 years. The team at the clinic were very thorough in explaining our options and providing recommendations all while being comforting, compassionate and showed great empathy while assisting us through the process. This was one of the most difficult nights of my life but we did feel somewhat at ease because of the staff on hand.

So thankful for the staff at AEC Durham Region!! They helped provide fast and effective life saving care for our sweet girl, Harriet. Both her and her brother, Humphrey, have epilepsy which we have been able to manage fairly well with medication. However the odd seizure slips through, and in the case of Harriet they can go from normal to deadly in minutes. After her rescue/intervention medication didn’t work, we rushed her to AEC Durham where we were met with very kind and knowledgeable staff who were able to help us immediately. Everyone was so kind, especially in a high stress situation like what we were experiencing. We were very surprised and comforted to learn that one of the vets that our dogs have seen at their usual clinic actually works at the Emerg, and recognized Harriet when she was brought in. We were well informed during the consult with the vet and were given options in terms of treatment and further steps. Everyone was so helpful. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

My cat Cleo wasn't eating and was in extreme pain, and their x rays saw possible mineralization and stones in her biliary tract, but they wanted to do an ultrasound to be sure of it. However, their ultrasound would take some time to get processed so they called around and referred me to a hospital that could get it done as soon as possible. They even decided not to charge me for my second visit the next day after I took Cleo home to see if she would be better after a day on her own and she didn't. It's clear they care about their patients a lot. Cleo is a lot better now and back to her normal self. The staff were very friendly and caring as well.

We took our dog Sparks at midnight last week and the AEC was so compassionate, caring and informative. Sparks stayed two nights and they encouraged us to call anytime. I felt so at ease leaving him because I knew he had the very best of care. The vets, vet techs and staff are so amazing. Sparks is still recovering but is back to his silly self all thanks to everyone at the AEC. We really appreciate all that you guys do 🐶
