How to Save Money at Elgin Mills Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Not sure how he’s getting 1 star reviews. This doctor is amazing (prices are even better) Dr.j has literally saved my cats life twice now. First time was an emergency surgery to remove something from his stomach. He was extremely compassionate, even called me after hours to ask how he was doing. Second time was this week when I brought him back with coughing. Turns out he’s got asthma, dr.j has been very thorough with the information and treatment course. I feel safe knowing he’s taking car of my kitty.

We have been visiting Dr.Jogar for the past 6 years. Nothing but good things to say. Have referred many friends to Dr.Jogar as well and every one is happy with the services, costs and compassion of the hospital. I have also taken my guinea pig to Dr.Jogar, although I don’t believe he specializes in small pets he was able to perform an x ray on my guinea pig which showed kidney stones along with a tumour that was forming. Unfortunately with the age of my guinea pig it was suggested not to perform any sort of surgery. Dr.Jogar was compassionate when I made the decision to put my guinea pig to sleep and took care of all the process for me and checked in on us as well. As for my dog Maya we have been coming for the past 6 years and he is very kind to her she never feels anxious with Dr. We come every 3 months for her anal gland cleaning. All the suggestions and medications Dr has given her over the years have always helped her including guidance with her nutrition, weight management and overall health. Very caring!

I have taken my 6 year old Golden Retreiever to Dr. Jogar for over five years now and am incredibly happy with the level of care and compassion he has shown Benji. I am shocked to hear about the negative reviews because they simply do not reflect the type of diligent care and work he provides to pets and pet owners. Benji has had dental cleaning, procedures, and all sorts of care here with no issues. One time when Benji had to stay overnight after having a gastro blockage, Dr. Jogar stayed late with him after-hours and was able to answer any questions I had, even after office hours. Other vets would have left Benji alone overnight, but Dr. Jogar stayed with him. When we got our second puppy, Dr. Jogar immediately knew that she was having knee problems and told me to be cautious about it in coming years. He has never administered medication without confirming with me first, and letting me know the prices as I am a student and he knows it may be difficult for me to afford at the moment. I urge readers not to be persuaded by the negative comments on these reviews and to actually give the office a chance. Although they are busy, Dr. Jogar cares deeply for the animals and I would trust him over and over again with the lives of my dogs. I recommend him to anyone seeking a vet.

I have been bringing my dog to Dr Joger since he opened his practice and now my dog is 12 years old. I am so surprised to see negative reviews for this doctor. I have been going to him over 10 years and i have nothing but amazing experience with him. He is thorough, he never recommend any expensive treatment or medications. When i take my dog he doesn’t even charge for consultation but would charge just for medication and if no medication is needed he would not charge at all. He doesn’t chase after money but reasonable and cares about the pet owners and their pets. I highly recommend him and i have sent so many friends and family to him. Everyone i have referred has said nothing but good things about him.

Had a scare today which is boxingday, my vet or another one I knew was not open. Going to another 24h emergency vet I didn't like their attitude. But as soon as the lady answered the phone here I felt comfortable. Not money hungry, they even went over the expected costs before we started, and fortunately it turned out to be nothing and only paid a small fee for a visit and some cream. I would HIGHLY recomend their team.
