How to Save Money at Holliday Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?
Pet Insurance Review makes it incredibly easy for pet parents to select an insurance provider they feel good about. You can use our handy comparison tool to get the gist of what a company offers. Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
The receptionist is so kind. The rest of the staff are nice for the most part. I brought my dog in for a torn nail. Dr. Sue trimmed her nails, put antibiotic cream on the nail that was torn and bandaged it. She also gave our dog a routine vaccine. We left with a $268 vet bill (even charged $48 for a bandaging fee?) I asked for clarification for why the bill was so much and I was given a quick response that made me feel brushed off. My husband and I felt taken advantage of and disappointed. We are looking for a more reasonably priced vet (suggestions are welcomed!). I wish I could recommend this location, but unfortunately I cannot.

Im not usually a person to leave reviews at buisnesses, but the service I was able to experience from the team at Holliday Vet was OUTSTANDING! They were all so kind and compassionate towards me when I first brought my cat in for the first time the second I opened their door on july 23rd for an emergency. He had never been to this vet office before as his office is in guelph from where I used to live, so I expected to wait for care or be turned away since he doesnt have a record. But then we met Dr. Sue and she was AMAZING! and immediately brought my boy to the back room and examined him, she found the reason I brought him in was false and that there was a much worse problem, she immediately started to talk me and my boyfriend through his problems and what steps we will need to take. It turned out the state he was in almost had cost him his life, if Dr. Sue hadn't taken my cat in, he wouldn't be with me right now, I have never been so greatful for someones experience in my life. I am so so greatful to live in a city that has such an amazing office. They all worked with me to find a payment plan aswell & Thats something I don't really notice a lot anymore. So again, Thank you SO much to Holliday Vets & to Dr. Sue for saving my boys life on such short notice.

Infinite stars!! A couple of years ago I was privileged to be the new mama of my sweet cat Walter as his previous owner wanted to rehome him. Looking for a new veterinarian hospital, I had a hard time finding one to even get Walters previous information from his vet. I had called the HOLLIDAY veterinarian hospital and spoke with the lovely Sandy. She said not to worry she would get his vaccination date which is all I was trying to find out. She called me back in about 20 minutes with the information, impressive! Recently, we got a little adorable kitten named Fonzie. His brother is taking time getting used to him ha ha. Sue has taken wonderful care of my boys, and her humour with them is delightful. Walter recently had a fever. Sue took care of that. Then Fonzie to be neutered, all went well and uneventful with the surgery. But sadly, Fonzie had a scary reaction to medication, who would’ve known? He took a bad turn, and needed emergency surgery on his bladder. Sue came in on her day off on that Saturday. Performed the surgery on my baby, I was just in shock, devastated, but when I saw Sue, I felt better and she said I will fix your little boy, the hospital was very kind, comforting, it was a shock to all. Sue went above and beyond the call of duty, she took my Fonzie home and took care of him for three days as this was critical, and kept me posted. I cannot express the gratitude to this beautiful woman, her knowledge, and the love for animals that she has, she gave my family the best Christmas present, my Fonzie back and healthy. Thank you to Sue and her staff you are the best! I have never seen a veterinarian hospital work so well together, and have so much compassion for the animals, and their owners. Below is a picture of my Walter and Fonzie, Walter always has a babysitter when he is outside, Fonzie goes in a stroller, as you see Fonzie‘s face, he’s such a happy little boy and so happy to be alive! From the bottom of my heart HOLLIDAY veterinarian hospital I thank you!

If I could give 19 stars, I would. We have been with Dr B for 5 years for our senior Basset Hound and have received the absolute best care possible for his many issues - ear cleanings, pedicures, advice, and so much more. With our new addition of a rescue senior dog with medical issues, they have been endlessly supportive and helpful with his care. We always were given options and choices that made sense, and we weren't pressured to take the most invasive or expensive option, just what was best for our boy. We opted for a home visit for his last day as he suffered through an extensive cancer diagnosis and Dr B was so careful with us and kind and compassionate and made a hard day a bit easier. I would never trust anyone else with the care for my dogs like I trust Dr B, and my only fear is that I speak too highly of the clinic and it will get too busy! Also, Sandy is an absolute gem and the kindness we have felt as members of the Holliday family will never be forgotten. UPDATE We are no longer clients as we sadly lost our senior Basset Hound this past May. Again, the absolute dedication and compassion of the entire team during his decline and eventual passing was astounding and we cannot reccomend more highly. Dr B was here with us as our boy left us and her attention to and kindness with my daughter and my family as we let him leave us was beyond what I could have asked for.

Dr. Sue Beacock has been absolutely phenomenal with my service dog Honey. Honey has come to Holliday on a number of occasions when other veterinarians would turn her away for weeks when she needed sooner attention. The whole staff team here have been nothing short of incredible. They're always super friendly and very helpful. Honey came in for a dental cleaning a couple weeks ago, after getting some questionable reccomendations from other vets... Sue was incredibly helpful and reasonable, and took the time to go through everything with me start to finish. Something no other vet ever bothers to do. Honey had some complications during her dental (no fault of the team at all, just bad luck from having the shelter she came from miss a retained tooth 8 years ago). The team kept me in the loop every step of the way through the surgery, and have been incredibly helpful during the process of finding a specialist to do her next surgery. I trust Dr. Beacock and her team with my service dog, and will be promptly transferring the rest of my animals to her care once I move. I've had many vet's, but this is the first vet I've truly trusted in over a decade.
