How to Save Money at Westshore Pet Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I worked with Martin for a number of years as a receptionist and veterinary assistant. To see this family grow to owning a successful practice has been wonderful. Martin and his team have always provided honest and up front care for my pets. Their ongoing dedication to good medicine over any interest in profit is what keeps me coming back. I refer all my friends as I know from working in the industry how hard it is to find comprehensive care for your pets that is genuinely interested in their care first and money second. I won’t take my pets anywhere else as long as Martin and his team at Westshore Pet Clinic will have us.

I just wanted to say how thankful I am for Dr. Klein and the reception team. My nervous dog absolutely loves coming to see you all because of how gentle and kind you are. Dr. Klein always takes the time to explain everything and never makes us feel rushed. Very lucky to be with this clinic!

We took our kitten here for her first check up and vaccination. We had a great experience from the very kind help on the phone and at the door from Callie, as well as the care Bibble received. Dr. Klein took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure we were happy and she was. He was very kind and patient with our kitten as well as my partner and I. Bibble had a great first visit to the vet! I’d like to update over a year later they are still kind and attentive to her as if we were brand new patients going so far as to remember she prefers to have a blanket on her to feel like she has a safe hiding spot. They are patient with her and never try to push us. They remember her and treat us and her so well every visit. 2 year+ update: I was surprised to see reviews on here stating Dr. Klein is not attentive and is prone to upselling we brought up a potentially silly concern as we have since adopted another cat she has eye boogies a LOT. We brought this up and not only did he walk us through what to look for in correlating symptoms but eased our anxieties about this concern. He easily could have sold us on antihistamine but did not instead he actually told us that just cleaning them out was the better move. Could have been an easy up sell but he did not. Could have laughed off our concern but did not. Bibble is TERRIFIED at the vet he is very calm and kind towards her and has offered solutions to help manage her anxiety. They still remembered the blanket for her. When she is in the space they remember her and know how nervous she gets. They were just as kind with the new cat as well we adopted her at two years old and he explained her previous vet papers to us. Went through her “passport” and helped us there. They plugged feliway in and put us in the room with the calming pheromones. He assessed them thoroughly and as new pet owners we have many anxieties he’s never been condescending about them. The receptionist Callie was welcoming as always and made us feel like they knew our animals. This vet has always gone above and beyond to remember our animal and do everything they can to make her visit easier.

I can't recommend Westshore Pet Clinic enough! From the moment I walked in with my puppy, Summer, the staff made us feel like family. Dr. Klein's expertise and genuine care are evident in every interaction. He takes the time to thoroughly explain treatment options, ensuring I feel informed and confident in decisions regarding Summer's health. The pricing is reasonable and fair, reflecting their commitment to providing top-notch care accessible to all pet owners. Updated review: Management reached out to apologize in a respectful manner for our previous experience. We appreciate their level of professionalism in this regard. Pros: Clinic is new, clean, and welcoming. Front desk staff was friendly and the welcome sign for new patients is very cute. Ample parking. Con: the owner/veterinarian was condescending and cold. Lacked emotional intelligence for humans and pets alike. During vaccinations our puppy was nervous and squirmed but he kept scoffing and acted impatiently that our 16 week puppy was not cooperating. It only made our puppy more nervous. He did manage to complete the vaccination but the way he handled that situation left a very poor impression on us and we refuse to return.
