My dog is a very anxious dog and his anxiety becomes worse when I take him to the vet because he hates the vet. This vet treated my dog like a total violent dog because he wanted to run away and was scared of getting shots. They put muzzle on him which I didn’t take an issue as anything unexpected could happen and for the safety of the vet but the issue was after the shots, they would just leave the room, not even saying any words, not even saying bye as if they were done with an aggressive dog. And then they charged $65 on top of vaccinations just for their exam fee when he didn’t do anything. Didn’t even tell me how everything was. In my dog’s previous vet, they never treated my dog like this. They didn’t even put muzzle on him because it made him even more anxious. He was scared but the vet and the staffs were very friendly and always tried to talk to my dog and gave him treats after the shots too to make him feel better. Last year when I brought my dog for another vaccine, this Maillardville animal hospital vet did not even know what flea droppings look like. I asked the vet if the black tiny things I see on my dog were flea droppings, he said those were just dirt. It turns out my dog had fleas and those were flea droppings. So not professional and incompetent. I am not going back to this vet again.

Friendly staff but very expensive service costs. I have talked to other vets and they were shocked at the price I had to pay to put my poor senior kitty down. It cost almost $450 just to put down my tiny senior cat with NO add ons. So I don’t get to get the ashes back, no paw print etc. she has also been to this vet for a check up so they also knew her condition before hand but there was a fee for check up. The previous visit also cost over $400 for bloodwork and the check up and they even recommend even MORE testing ($600-$2k) since it was not conclusive to what was the problem with her not being able to walk properly. If you got money to burn sure come here, they are very nice and friendly and are good with last minute appointments. But if you’re on a tight budget I recommend going somewhere else as many other highly rated vets have much lower service costs.

After taking our puppy to three vets we settled for this one. The front desk person is always friendly and pleasant. The vets are caring and informative. I called the vet in the morning and we were able to see the vet early afternoon. I brought our puppy and after 15 mins the vet informed us that she had ear infection. He informed us that he will clean out her ears and provided us ear drops. The bill came to $115 an the whole process took 30mins. If you are searching for a great vet this is the place. Thanks for reading this review and I hope you find it useful. Thank you.

This took me 3 years to write. My husband and I took our dog (puppy at the time) to Maillardville as our regular place (Burquitlam Animal Hospital) was closed Sundays and that Sunday our puppy woke up with a swollen paw. The vet on site said we needed to get an xray and he said she needed to be sedated for it. Afterwards, he said she broke a bone and put her paw in a cast. 2 days later, we took our dog to our regular vet who took the cast off and said it was not a broken bone but an infection. The vet at Maillardville put our puppys infected paw in a cast, making it a lot worse than it was. After several days of carrying our puppy daily to Boundary Bay (which was not only stressful for us as we live in Tri-cities but also traumatic for our dog). We would drop her off in the morning before work and pick her up at the end of the night. Boundary Bay said nothing more they could do and recommended amputation of one toe, which is what we had to do. The trauma of being in a crate all day long in a hospital for multiple days as a puppy and having lost a toe had a very negative impact on our dog's life. While we are not in the business of writing negative reviews, this feels like a public service. Wait for our own vet if you can, if not go to Boundary Bay. I wish we never went to Maillardville Animal Hospital

I can't say enough good things about the kind, compassionate, competent and professional service that young vet and his lovely assistant provided to us in our home with our elderly dog. They helped us through a very difficult time with grace and tact. I would highly recommend the Maillardville Animal Hospital for regular home visits and merciful end of life services, as well as regular veterinary needs. In future, if (or when) we get another dog, we would love to have them as our vets.
