How to Save Money at Townline Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?
Pet Insurance Review makes it incredibly easy for pet parents to select an insurance provider they feel good about. You can use our handy comparison tool to get the gist of what a company offers. Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I cannot recommend this clinic and their incredible team, especially Dr. Sage, enough. When we first noticed that our hedgehog was sick, we went to another clinic, but the experience there left us heartbroken. The doctor there refused to treat her and told us that euthanasia was the only option. I was devastated and desperately called several clinics, and that’s when I was referred to this clinic and Dr. Sage. From the very first interaction, they were beyond amazing. I left a tearful voicemail explaining our situation, and they responded so quickly, finding an appointment for us as soon as possible. During our visit, Dr. Sage showed so much care and professionalism. He carefully examined her, explained the possible causes of her illness, and discussed the treatment options with us. Even after discovering that our hedgehog had cancer, he didn’t give up on her. He performed surgery and gave us two more precious months with Tesla. Throughout this difficult time, the entire staff was so empathetic and supportive. They were patient with our many questions, always polite and professional, and treated both us and our hedgehog with incredible respect. The clinic had such a warm and comforting atmosphere that really made us feel like we were in the best hands. When the time came to make the heartbreaking decision to let our little hedgehog go, the team made such a difficult process a little easier for us. They were compassionate and understanding, guiding us through the euthanasia with so much care. After the procedure, we called with questions, and Dr. Sage personally called us back to let us know how everything went and reassured us that it was peaceful. This meant so much to us during such a hard time. I’ve never encountered such dedicated and caring professionals before. If you have exotic animals and want a clinic that truly cares, this is the place to go. We are so grateful for the kindness and compassion they showed us and our beloved hedgehog.

I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. My pets were actually patients of the previous owner and I followed them to east Abbotsford. I came back about 4 years ago when one of my cats got sick and was in the emergency pet hospital. Upon discharge I was told she needed to be seen by her vet to follow up due to her kidneys being damaged. I called my east Abby vet and they couldn't get her in for 3 weeks! I could, however, drop her off and they would see her if they got time. This was not acceptable to me considering she was already scared, I didn't feel comfortable leaving her. I remembered a new vet took over the clinic so I called with hopes they could see her. Without hesitation, they asked how soon I could get her in and within 90 minutes Dr. Goh was checking her out! A short time afterwards, Dr. Goh left and Dr. Allmark took over care of my pets. She recommended a diet change to help heal the kidneys and my cats have been great ever since, until a month ago. One of our other friends has gotten sick, again, I called the clinic and said something wasn't right. They could get her in for a checkup within a couple hours, with a different vet. So as of today, our Chonky cat is feeling better but is still sick. Dr. Tanya has been amazing, taking time out to deal with my crying daughter and reassure her the cat is not depressed from her moving away. Dr. Tanya has messaged me late at night when blood work/ xrays come in, assuring me she is going to find out what is going on. I am so grateful for the entire staff of this clinic. Throughout my many years of being a pet owner, I have been to 2 of Abbotsford most popular clinics. (I will not mention them) This is, hands down, the best clinic here, from the front staff to the techs to the amazing doctors. They are empathetic, compassionate and truly care, not only about their furry, and sometimes not so furry, patients, but also the chauffeurs that bring them to the clinic. I do not know what will happen with our Chonk, it will not change this review, but I know they are doing everything possible for her to find out what's going. I am so grateful for all of the efforts of everyone at this clinic. The only bad thing I have to say, is that I am concerned the staff is so dedicated. I don't want any of them to burnout so they can't be around when my, or anyone else's, furry friends need them!

I have worked over the years with Dr. Ken Macquisten, with multiple species, as well as Dr Louise Allmark. You will not meet anyone more concerned with your pets wellbeing anywhere else. They are two absolutely outstanding veterinarians whose concern with animals welfare, conservation and rights extends well outside of the practise. Their staff have always been very accommodating and friendly, I enjoy my chats with them when I am in the office. I would never consider using anyone else.

I have been using this vet for the last few years for my rabbits. I can't say enough good things about my experience with them. The care and compassion they show for my animals is amazing. Dr. Allmark is the best vet I've ever seen. The ladies up front are all kind and compassionate. I would recommend Dr. Allmark to anyone who has exotic pets!!

The most caring, compassionate, and wonderful human beings work here. I brought my dog to them and we were treated like family. From the initial call to bringing my fur baby home after surgery. I can't express the gratitude I feel. Thank you to everyone at Townline!! You are all incredible people!!
